most importantly, it have up to 3 player multiplayer, if this is what you like. It does seem to be more and more like a mix of Trine and Manic Mansion...
Bump

Surprisingly little is said about this game yet...

It is slated for a release this month and now have a Steam page with a nifty gameplay video - it looks great.

It looked pretty good, but the first couple of seconds of the video are enough to tell me not to look forward to it. Shitty SEGA and their regional restrictions.

I am still hopping that maybe GoG will manage to snag it and will release it here given that they have the other Double Fine games. (Yes I know it's edited by Sega but I can always dream.)

I don't fancy platformers that much to pre-order or buy it at full price, so I'll wait until it appears on GOG and then I will give it a thought.

Indeed. Too bad SEGA had to ruin it. =/
This looks really good... ^_^
The game is available as preorder from GMG and Gamersgate. I am surprised, the game is on sale for only 12,99€. I hope this is not a bad sign, because this seems to be really "cheap" for the new Ron Gilbert Game.

Hm? For years they have promised us that digital distribution will lower the price on games, and when it does we get suspicious if it is worth it? Anyway, I feel it is fair priced. It is a indie platfomer game developed by a small indie team, after all, and should be priced to be competitive with the marked.

For lazy people, here is the GG link - http://www.gamersgate.co.uk/DD-CAVE/the-cave, it is Steam only.
Hope the game does well!

Based on the Double Fine Adventure documentary, they've stretched their budget from the kickstarter. I'm not sure if sales from The Cave would directly go into DFA per se, but it would definitely help out the company and give a bit more breathing room for DFA.

But that's a side issue. The Cave looks great, and I hope it can come to GOG as well.

I dont think that Double Fine is still a "small indie team". And The Cave is released and financed by Square Enix. I hoped for a 20€ price and i am surprised to get the game with the ususal 20% off voucher from GMG for only 10€ as a preorder. That is less than my contribution for the DFA...

1- Double Fine did not make it, as such. It was Ron Gilbert and a couple of artists and coders... who happen to work at Double Fine. The team making it was very small. Gilbert worked on it by himself as a personal project for many years, it is only from the last year onwards he got some more help. It is his 'baby'.

2 - SEGA, not Square Enix.... and only as publisher.

3 - You where hoping the game was more expensive? What ever for? strangest thing I have heard. Personally I though it would be around £15, and is very pleased to see it for £9.99. I welcome sensible pricing of DD only games, and wish more developers did the same.
I am quite tempted to pre-order it ever since it was announced, but I would prefer to buy it here on GOG. Stacking made its way here and I gladly purchased it even though I could have bought it far cheaper on Steam at the time. I will keep my fingers crossed for a DRM-free release. =)
