Playing videogames is a pleasure. Buying videogames is another kind of pleasure. Both are related, but are not the same.

In one of his short stories, Julio Cortázar explained that, when someone gifts you a watch, you are also receiving the gift of time, and Death itself is looking at you from its very depths. Likewise, when you buy a videogame, you are not just buying a videogame: you are also buying a future in which you sit comfortably in your favorite chair with all the afternoon ahead of you to play that wonderful game. That future might or might not come to pass, but it's now at your fingertips, you own it, you just purchased it. So keep buying videogames. You are just buying a future for yourself that you like.
Yeah my shelf exploded with the recent sales here, it does seem my gaming card is full up for the rest of the year which in my book isn't really a bad thing; I won't have to worry about buying anything else for a while. Plus, in the long term I'm sure I saved some money on purchases I would've paid full price for otherwise.

It's still a hell of a lot of gaming though, I'm still working through Freespace 1 for Pete's sake.

Ghorpm: So... How about Games Purchaser Anonymous
Well... Anonymous is like secret, right? The Secret Order of Videogame Collectors sounds more like it. I guess we'd need our own handshake, too. ;)

Coelocanth: See? It's not an addiction, really. It's kind of like having an emergency supply kit in case of disaster. Amirite?
It really has merit. It's nice to be able to play what I want when I want. Forcing yourself to play a game you're not wild about in the moment can feel like work.

Still... addicts... lol.

No! I can stop any time I want to. Just don't want to right now...

P1na: There's no such thing as too many games!!
... but there is such a thing as too little lifespan for all of them... :D

Also: books, movies, series... Even a bit of social life, sometimes. :)

Voted.

I plan to have my consciousness downloaded into a computer and live forever. Then I will not only have enough time to play the games but also be able to run them in my own mind.
