tomimt: Is Torchlight any good? It seems to be Diablo style game so that in mind, I really enjoyed the first Diablo but I hate Diablo 2 with a passion.
It's made by a lot of folks who worked on D2. It's a pretty close Diablo 2 clone. With that said, for the price you can probably obtain it for these days, sure it's fun, it was 20 dollars at launch and that was about what it was worth. There was a pretty hefty editor bundled with it, not sure it got as many fan made goodies as they probably deserved given that (there is a good amount, check it out).
The core gameplay after the main story is lackluster. You might replay once as that other class you almost picked before, that's about it for most folks.
rasufelle: I am rather partial to Torchlight myself -- heck, I reinstalled Steam after my OS crash JUST SO I COULD PLAY IT.
Like a lot of others have said, though, it's Diablo 1.5. The overall feeling of it lies somewhere between Diablo and Fate, since it steals most of the vibe from the former while the overall story and gameplay progression is rooted directly in the latter, which was heavily rooted in the former... regardless, it's a fun game, though I would have preferred if the graphics were a little less WoW-esque.
I agree with it being easy though. I NEVER play games on Hard, and I've been considering starting a new char at that level just to toughen things up a bit.
Hard just means you drink more potions, that's pretty much it. If you can bequeath some high value items for sale on your hard character they will have no money issues early on buying potions.
