For example they used to replace Fsck (but the actual 'dirty' word) with Love which turned cussing matches into friendly conversations.
"Love you!" "Love you too motherlover!"

I'd rather not.

Maybe it should be "GOG still kick ass, even if they won't admit it!" :D
amok: yes, your argument that this is an issue is because there are other important issues out there No, it's not.
Can someone please confirm that they understood what I wrote because I'm sure I explained my point behind my examples? :(

In my experience - many GOGers have trouble understanding analogies and metaphors. They dismiss them as either unrelated or non-exact, which they never were supposed to be in the first place.
My theory is that, in these axiologically empoverished times, it is an unusual for anyone to stand up against anything that doesn't cause them direct and acute harm. As such - people who do cause confusion and fear ;P.

it is a strawman argument, and it do not convince me off it's importance. If this is it, then any case can be argued to be important. It is important to you, to me it is a non-issue and as such this do not convince me.

He is saying you are overreacting to a mistake. He says that you should add the "kick-ass" part to your giveaway as a reminder of the lax atmosphere in the gog forums, and to see that the phrase is accepted by the powers that be.

rational?
are you saying revenge, or "eye for an eye" behavior is rational?
am i missing something?
i do completely agree that respect is nice! im all about respect. thats the point, if you go to someone's house, you respect their rules. not "demand" they respect yours. (no one is demanding respect... i just couldnt think of a better work to use)
edit: why is my post like a quote...? im checking it now, its not set as one...

Could you convince me that your life is important if I didn't believe it was? You're one of about 7 billion other people. Of those, a tiny number will ever meet or be affected by you or anyone you know. You have absolutely no bearing on my life. If you vanished tomorrow, I, along with most people on the planet, wouldn't even notice.
Logically, I shouldn't give what happens to you a second thought. But I do, because what you care about is important to you. I may not agree with you but I wouldn't say it was completely unimportant.
You may attribute a far lower importance to this issue than I do. You may think that what GOG is doing is perfectly fine. But saying that this isn't an issue at all is dismissing every single person who posted in this thread. Even yourself. After all, you felt it was important enough to participate.. and continue to argue against me.

Yeah, it was a mistake. But it isn't what I am reacting to.
I purposely left it until half way through today to create this topic, rather than doing it as soon as I first saw what happened. I think that was reasonable time for the mistake to be corrected?
As I mentioned, this is the first time I've seen it happening so I really did just consider it as a mistake and was happy for a quick fix (revert) and move on.

That has been corrected.
So, do I think the title should be changed back? As I've mentioned before, no, I am against re-changing the tilte for various reasons, most important of which the fuss that was raised about it. Call me what you will, but unless you can convince me that changing it will not be seen as "giving in to angry mobs", I doubt my mind will be changed.
Think of it like Judas' swear filter was set to a very high level, while GOG.com normally operates on medium-high.

Firstly let me explain why I do think this is a non-issue:
This is not an issue since there was not any censorship involved, just normal forum moderation. I would say it is not censorship since the original post itself is unchanged and the meaning of the thread is the same. gog did not change anything except replacing one word with another (more PC) which means exactly the same. Granted in this case it can be argued whether ass is strong enough to warrant moderation, but you are taking it a step further arguing that there should not be any such moderation what so ever. This will never happen, gog need to have some moderation to maintain corporate image, and some of the words which have been changed before have been more severe (f-word and similar). The reason you might not have noticed is because it have previously been TeT who have done so, and he has a very good grasp of the English language and the change is not only an improvement but also quite fitting, in this case JI have a more direct sense of humour which made the change more obvious (no offence...) . This is therefore a standard practice which is not only needed but should continue, and it is accepted by the community - so unless there are very strong arguments against it it will stay a non-issue. TeT explained very nicely why this is as it is.
Secondly - why I stayed:
Even though I do not find your cause worthy, I was genuinely interested in your reason to do this. When I asked why I expected a little more then just a brush off like this. It annoyed me a little and I wanted to find out more. I must say that after the post where I tried to address your points and just find two things ripped out of context and put together annoyed me a bit more. You said you wanted a debate, but you did not engage in one yourself. When I get annoyed I tend to either bite harder or disengage, and I was still a bit intrigued what your reasons where. I may not be very good at expressing myself properly, and I do not mean this as a personal attack, but that's the feeling I felt left with.

And as others said: This is a business. So please calm down xyem, take a step back and fight for cases worth fighting for. This one is not.
Enjoy your day :)
