RPG, Minecraft-style (which is becoming a genre in itself), and strategy would be my favourites, I guess. Quite similar to other people here.
RPG and Strategy. I noticed that I completely dropped Adventure games in the meantime which I guess reflects that gameplay for me is a more important factor than story.
RPG's
FPS
Point n Click.
I like most types of games, except when they fall neatly into a genre. Makes it a bit hard to answer questions like this. I'm not trying to be contrarian; I just sometimes get the sense that games are often designed in certain aspects out of a sense of obligation to the genre they're aiming toward, which can put me off.

I often enjoy platformers and RPGs. FPS can be great when it has interesting mechanics.
Well, if I had to pick it would be RPG, after that Adventure (point-and-click). Apart from that I like car simulators, but you can count good one's on the fingers of one hand.

RPGs of course! Followed by turn-based strategy.

That said, there isn't a single genre I can think of that I have absolutely no interest in.

Ah, I see. So you enjoy RPGs but only if they've been plowed and left to regain nutrients by point-n-click adventure games, eh? :p

As for me it's hard to pin down, I've probably spent more time on FPSs but I wouldn't say it's my genre of choice. I'd say I get the most enjoyment from RPGs but honestly I love almost all genres; the only one I'm really not keen on are rhythm games. I'm also not great at platformers but I have fun with them nonetheless.

edit: Hey cool I have a star!

RPGs mostly, RTS, 3rd person action/adventure (Darksiders, God of War, etc), casual puzzle, Tower Defense.. I like lots of games, really.

I don't tend to go for sports, racing or FPS (good FPS will change that though)
1) Historical turn based strategy games

2) Turn based strategy games

3) RPG’s, not first person.

Visual novels maybe? Yeah, some people seem to consider them games. :P
Kinda a three-way tie between RPG, Platformer and Adventure.

Hm, difficult … I almost play everything.
Except
first person shooters. But then I played Half-Life … maybe because it is one game where you not only shoot quick but walk mostly around, searching the exit, having a thrilled atmosphere and a nice story.

I like adventure games. Maybe because of the same: good story and atmosphere. And you don't have to dodge bullets. But then I am not the one solving each and every riddle. When I'm stuck more than 20 minutes, I either go and read the walkthrough or go outside for a walk. After coming back the solution mostly falls into my hands. :-)

Strategy games are nice. I like it when I have plenty of time for planning, so turn-based strategy comes to me. Playing Alpha Centauri was always fun. But also quite complex, so I mostly prefer real-time strategy. But not the warfare part (of both TBS and RTS), so I'm more playing easy levels or games like Alien Nations, Anno or Patrician, where you concentrate on trading, building and growing a civilization. :-)

Also a favourite genre are racing games with fun factor (example: Flatout). And fun-action games in common, like Trine (wonderful game I finished at the beginning of 2013), Freelancer, Lara Croft: Guardian of Light (which makes way more fun than the standard 3D-based Tomb Raider titles), or even the arcade loot game Deathspank.

While I keep wanting to say turn-based strategy because I really like those games, this may not be true seeing how little I play them at times; to be fair they can be quite the time commitment, and that's definitely one reason why I only delve into them infrequently. I guess trying to work on some of my backlog is affecting that decision as well.

Overall then I don't have a particular standout. It really just depends on what I'm in the mood for: adventure, action, simulation, management... Right now, for example, I'm on an action sim trip with the Wing Commander games. I just wanted something a little different again so I broke out my flight stick, and I'm having a blast. Not sure whether I'll continue onto Privateer, Freespace, or Terminal Velocity after I'm eventually done with part four. I may take a break and play something else then.
