jlibster: Could be why they removed the links LOL. Care to give your ETA on proper patch release?

FenderRed: Late friday, because as you can tell, I'm pessimistic.
They said there will be a 1.2 patch next week and i think 1.1 will be announced next week with the 1.1 and 1.2 contents.

you believe 1.1 will be released NEXT week and in the same week 1.2 is coming out which includes patch material from 1.1? If you are correct, almost sounds like its better for the 1.2 (This constantly moving target is geting nuts...). Prehaps it would have been better to release the game in June, but then the SecuROM might not have been removed as quickly....

Timeline:

They'll delay patch 1.1 to include into 1.2
They'll delay patch 1.2 to include into 1.3
They'll delay patch 1.3 to include into 1.4
...
They'll drop it altogether and announce Witcher 3.

looks like... but having no official forum on the release date, server issues etc.. TW games are unique but if you can create a game like that, you should handle other issues better. I appreciate CDPR's work but giving exact times like "patch is coming in a few hours" or "it's ready but.." is not professional for a dev team that can develop games like TW.

I will take a developer who cares about it's customers and makes some mistakes here and there over ANY of the other developers any day.

So it has been a little rocky..I still support them. I love you CDRP, and I know you will sort it out.

AudreyWinter: Hum... now I get a nice message "please use launcher to activate the game". And here I thought I had the DRM-free version... still blond. Because there is nothing you can do with the launcher to activate. I remember that the first time around I registered with my serial, but I did not activate the game. Because that is for proud SecuROM owners, right?

Anyway, the Troll Trouble DLC is checked in the "Downloadable content" section. I guess that is because I uninstalled using the Windows uninstaller, but didn't delete any of the files that were left in the installation folder, I only made sure there was no trace of the witcher2.exe file and pack0.dzip. So it seems that DLC remains, unless you delete it manually.

Of course that doesn't help me too much now, because I can't play, because the game wants to be activated. Seriously weird...

jlibster: You buy the GOG version or from another source (DVD, D2D, Steam...)?
I thought until now the only DRM-free version was the GoG version, right? Is this one now being patched to have DRM? Exceptionally blond - just not sure if it's me or them. ;)
No, I did NOT apply the 1.1 patch this time, I swear!
On my GoG game.

Also, the launcher can't be closed the usual way anymore, only killing the proccess with the taskmanager works. If you ask me (also if you don't), this launcher never did work the way it was intended to. I doesn't shut down after launching the game, which it should and which is why I use the exe to start, not the launcher. But not now. I could try to register the game again... but of course not while the servers are down... gonna play another game for now.

Poor thing, you are having all sorts of problems..I don't have any answers either..this launcher is funky, you got that right.

What game are you going to play instead?
It's not very nice of you. We waited, we wait, and you will not even comment on the situation ... and how long this mess will continue? We paid the money and do not get proper service! You even put a moderator, that he regularly wrote about the work. How much we still have to wait?

Personally I'm very disappointed, I expected more respect ... our patience is not unlimited ...
This is terrible. CDPR showed top line amateurism here.

Try and delete the whole Witcher 2 directory you installed to, after you uninstall. Also clear out the files where you have the savegames, but leave the save directory and the saves of course.

Aww, thanks for your compassion. :)
But I can't even be bothered to be mad. I've been mad enough about stupid players who will NEVER be satisfied, no matter how much the REDs bend over backwards. I wasn't even mad when the activation for the GoG version got bumped back past the pirate version, so I won't start now. I imagine the poor guys smoking like chimneys (reference to Apollo 13, the successull failure *g*). They have enough pressure as it is and it will be done when it will be done.
Well, I'll be mad when they don't patch out bad controls and patch in the "forgotten basics of video games".

Another game... I got me Gothic II with the Witcher order and I started playing that before the 17th, could play that a little more.

I think we are looking at a LOT of "first times" here. So I feel inclined to be more forgiving on the patches in most areas:

1st: unprecidented detail in graphics, apparently not done with simple algorithms, but digitally "hand drawn" and serious research done for authenticity.

2nd. The new engine from scratch instead of using the Bioware licensed engine from Witcher 1.

3rd. New combat system (reported to be frustratingly difficult for all but seasoned gamers) but I like a challenge....

4th. They experimented with SecuROM (given their publically declared stance on DRM I was shocked they used the Satan of DRM's) which backfired not only on the purchasers who didn't get the GOG version, but on themselves as well;unexpected performance loss from the SecuROM POS. (wonder what it was doing that took so many CPU cycles, eh? Net Sniffer anyone)

5. they experimented with a method of adding patches/DLC which only allowed obtaining content via in-game installer. Basically I call that lite DRM in a single player game. This ALSO backfired as it totally cut people off from the DLC. Again, CDPR should really have known better than to use a mechanism like that. Even EA/Bioware allowed manually downloaidng of DLC from the start although they urged people to use the in-game installer.

They made many ambitious moves, many which I appluade, but the last two will make me think twice before doing another pre-order. I got the game in part because I thought I was supporting DRM free independent game development. In the end, I guess I did, but I feel some sneaky behavior and "grey areas" were used even in the "DRM-free" edition. I suspect they were probing to see how much Internet based DRM we would swollow and in what form. Well now they know people like me have ZERO tolerence as my XP box is rigged to enforce my policy on this: No Internet access. With luck Skyrim will see this and play it straight with us. If they want my money, they'll avoid Internet based DRM.

CDPR is also a bit smaller than others and the work they've done is serious evolution in RPG gaming. Just wish they had played it straighter, but I'll give them credit for doing the right thing (removing SecuROM) although they burned many people before they did.
