No reason preventing you nominating for the same cause, but a different organisation though - maybe one local to you where you can actually see what a difference the money made?!

That's a great initiative! I'll have to think about what charity to nominate, since I don't know a lot information about foreign charities and I guess it would be better to wait for a while and see what other people nominate.

I'd like to nominate <span class="bold">Ark of the World</span>, a charity that was founded in 1998 and is commited to take care of children that have been experiencing abandonment, racism and social exclusion on daily basis in one of the most downgraded regions of Athens, the “Platonos” Academy.

The reason i nominate them is that i would like to help as much as i can the work of Father Antonios because i believe that children of poor families here in Greece (but not only Greek families & children of course, since the Ark is a multi-cultural community!) shouldn't be deprived of the bare essentials such as food, clothing, education, entertainment etc.

Unfortunately, i couldn't find any english documentaries about Ark of the World or at least any translated in english. But i'll give you two short Greek documentaries and while most possibly you won't understand what they say, you can see where all these children live and what's going on there and of course you can see and hear Father Antonios speaking about his work on Ark of the World.

As a (great) extra, click here to see a video of the German rock band Scorpions that visited Ark of the World some time ago. You'll hear their singer, mr Klaus Meine, talking about the project and also singing with the children. This is the only video that english speaking people can understand, although it's a very short one.

I nominate Medicines Sans Frontiers

Acess to medical services is a global problem, more so for those in conflict zones and countries with extreme poverty.
MSF provides medical services and training to people all over the world regardless of their creed or ethnicity.

The worst I ever had to deal with was a 6 hour wait for chest pains. Better than no wait because there are no doctors anywhere.

I am lucky but others are not. lets give them a hand.

Because the COP21 is currently working in Paris and because I'm very fond of lemurs from Madagascar, the most beautiful, clever and ancient animals in the world but also the most threatened by human activity (hunting, cutting forests...), I would like to nominate the Lemur Conservation Foundation (LCF), a non-profit corporation dedicated to the preservation and conservation of the primates of Madagascar through managed breeding, scientific research, and education. The foundation and accompanying lemur reserve focus on fostering natural lemur behavior to encourage a dynamic population.

Here is a third-party article and a YouTube video made by an amateur which explains the history of lemurs and how they can survive, thanks to the LCF.

To save the lemurs is to save the origins of our humanity.
