I thought that Finland would have wide range of charity stuff..There isn't. What I read about those, worse they seemed. We should have plenty of money but those politicians just.. They undid their trousers, and let their asses go.. only thing what was taking that ugly thing was normal people.
cheese bump!
What a glorious idea!

I am late to the party, however; I will try to research a charity in the UK and provide the details prior to the closure of this event.

Cheers The Sigil and Sachys
This is a truly fantastic idea. A huge thanks to all involved. I'm about to leave for the day for some medical visits, but I'll try to edit this into an actual entry when I return home tonight (or soon otherwise, in any case.)

Just to note, it needn't be in the UK. It could even be a charity in your local community ;-)

Thanks for the heads-up. The one I nominated is international, I just used the UK URL :)

I'd personally like to see more of that - whereby results of the donations / gifts / "prizes" can actually be seen and accounted for.
...and (this is my own opinion here - not neccesarily that of The Sigil in setting this up), the bigger charities are "less in need" of the money - being already well established - and such an amount is likely to have a bigger impact on a smaller organisation.

I agree wholeheartedly, however; said local charities generally don't have the footprint that would allow for deep research to ensure the charity is accountable to its mission.

Although I am weary of large charities I am just as weary with the smaller ones. Without physically seeing your money in action, it is very difficult to discern if a large amount of ones donation is being used in the correct manner these days.

Many people think like you for exactly the same reasons you talk about and that's why a lot of people prefer to give food (with long expiration dates of course such as olive oil, honey etc), clothes, toys, cleaning products (if the charity is based in some building and takes care of people) and many more, rather than actual money.

Sachys: Already nominated I'm afraid - you'll have to choose a different charity (though the same cause is fine).
Umh, I'm not into association so much, I don't know a lot of them. I know Telethon, from Italy, against rare illness

but I don't know if it's valid.
