It is a good day today!

Proteus EP have just been released - (, website with Humble Store) and Antichamber is released in 18 hours (Steam). Both games have been moved up from the "In Development" category
Bientôt l'été popped up on Steam today - http://store.steampowered.com/app/229600/ - without going through Greenigiht. Say what you want about Valve, but they provide a nice outlet for a lot of experimental indies.

Other news - The Plan will be released for free the 10'th.
The bridge have a release date - 22 Feb. and it have also just appeared on steam . Open for pre-order now:

The trailer looks nice indeed.
I loved these games. It's especially nice to see that someone else has played Auditorium and The Stanley Parable, I always recommend these games to people but no one ever seems interested, particularly the latter, I think people have a thing against free games, they unfortunately believe in a correlation between value and quality.

I'd like to submit for approval Digital: A Love Story, Christine Love's games are interesting but since this one is free it's probably the best place to start.

hm. I agree that Christine Love's games are very nice. And I agree, I will put this one one the list also (and a linke to Love's blog in the Honourable mentions section). I will be very worried with putting interactive fiction on the list just for being interactive fiction, it will open up some floodgates... They will also need to show experimental touches. I think Love do.

(If you like this kind of things - have you seen Galatea? it is short, but a good example of what I am looking for in this category)

Not me, I'd love to play The Stanley Parable, I just don't know how and you didn't answer my questions in the other thread yet. ;)

But never mind, I just found a standalone download on moddb, will try to get it to work with Steam.

I swear I've never seen that reply or I would have gotten back to you.

All you need is that mod you found and Source SDK Base 2007 which you'll find on Steam under Tools, then just place the mod on your Steam folder inside sourcemods and the game should show up in your library.

Maybe the GOG forums will only notify the user you quote directly and copying and pasting quotes doesn't work in the same way? Sorry for that!

Anyway, it already shows up on Steam, but I still need to download and install SDK Base 2007. Man, that's a huge file! Will probaly take a few hours ... :D I'm still skeptical whether my low-end rig will be able to run it, but thanks for your help! :)

Well these are the Half-Life 2 requirements:

Minimum System Configuration
1.2 GHz Processor
256MB RAM
DirectX 7 capable graphics card (64 MB or higher)

Preferred System Configuration
2.4 GHz Processor
512MB RAM
DirectX 9 capable graphics card

As a mod it should have similar specs.

So far that sounds as if it should work, but with that onboard graphic card you never know. Today I tried to play Deus Ex Invisible War (2003), and it was lagging even in the lowest resolution. XD

I was able to run it and it was hilarious! Thanks a lot for encouraging me to play it! :)

amok: snip
Just finished playing Galatea. Great game, took me quite a while to get all the endings.

I have a few problems with interactive fiction as well, mainly how interactive they are.

I played 999 on DS a couple of months ago and I absolutely hated it, barely made it an hour in, at first I didn't understand the hate but after thinking about it for a while I think I figured it out: it didn't feel like a game, it felt more like a book. Half an hour went by where my only input was pressing the button to scroll the text along, though the worst offender was by far the narrator which made sure to tell me everything instead of letting me make my own conclusions.

Sure, books are great, but games have such a strength in making you part of the story that it upsets me to see that potential squandered.

I liked Galatea and Digital because they made use of that. Especially interesting with Digital, because it doesn't have the benefit of a branching story, but it always felt like I was piecing things together myself instead of simply being told a story.

And Stanley was happy.

EDIT: Just remembered, they're making an HD remix and released a hilarious response to a fan email:

I don't think there's UnReal world on the list yet. It's an Iron age life/survival simulator of sorts, but with a Rogue-like interface.

It's my No.1 unconventional game. The author keeps enhancing it, and while it will stay at the current graphical level for the foreseeable future, the workings of the world and game mechanics keep on improving.

Thanks - I have not tried this yet, so I will take your word for it. Looks interesting, will try it later to see what they do with the setting.

Added The Official to "In Development"

The Plan will be released later today, so move it up to "stand alone games"
