I once tried destiny 2.... Way back when they were in league with Blizzard. I found the game to be a nice distraction.... Then the whole bungie leaves the building thing happenend and before i knew it, the game i had bought, with a 4 expansions, was suddenly like worth nothing anymore. Earlier campaigns did not work.... a huge obtrusive maze that hinted to access on mp only things was the only thing left. Next with this rather undefined anger against developers and their disregard for people who pay with hard earned pennies.

And now they give the game with the latest DLC for free on Epic Games.... That's a nice thing to look at i think.... Now i ain't sure yet, but i have good hopes to finally be able to deal with those bits of unresolved ... emotions.
Which is important....

We all know what happens with unresolved emotions left to fester.

Before you know it you are knee down, wearing ropes chanting unintelligble words with the Inquisiton knocking on your front door purging every personal relation you'd ever had...

Such an outcome is not worth it!!!

I think
INB4 locked.

I hope I substantially contributed to the topic.

I don't think there's much anyone can say except "All versions require a constant internet connection for all game modes" DRM'd, lootbox saturated 'games' will always be 100% disposable by design...
I don't understand OP, but all I want to mention is that Epic is a charity for publishers and devs with the added benefit of it trickling down to us consumers and gamers. Not sure why people can't see that - it permeates through everything Sweeney does.

Apart from one thing - the Linux dislike. And that is just sticking it to Lord Gaben, can't think of another reason.

I can't believe I get to use this for a second time in I thik a week, but...

As if a switch had been turned, as if an eye had been blinked, as if some phantom force in the universe had made a move eons beyond our comprehension, suddenly, there was no game! There was no expansion, no DLC, no thing called "Destiny 2" to be played. There was nothing in the Battle.net but the puzzled men of courage, who suddenly found themselves alone with truth about online games and DRM!
yea yea,,,, if it's not linear it is not for anyone... i get it okay...

That sounds like Asimov, but, Mr Alex Trebek, I think the question would be: "What would the prologue, adapted from the opening paragraph of the classic Orsen Welles (Hallowe'en eve, October, 1938 ©CBS 1965–) War of the Worlds radio play, sound like if we wanted to answer the OP?"

What do you call an inline hyperlink that invalidates the statement? A paradoxical hyperlink?

Oh no3s!
I have no problem accepting free games from EGS.

But Destiny 2 will not be one of them, since I have always understood, for years, ever since Destiny 2 first came out, that the entire "business strategy" of that game is to milk consumers continually.

To that I say, no thanks. They can keep their "free" game, since that kind of game isn't really "free" anyway, IMO, at least not if you want to have a good time and keep your character current after they release future Destiny 2 milking scams, as they always & inevitably & incessantly will do.

I must say, that is something missed by me entirely. I think the same can be said for those other epic 'free' games such as uhm what its called again, Honkai Railroad..... i believe even the 'official' reviews for the 'game' lauded the company for creating a fun free experience where the choice to pay really lies by the user.

Even in my earlier experiences with Destiny 2 i really had no incentive to spend some money other than to gain access to the other DLC campaigns. Which in my eyes was actually quite worth it seeing how much fun i had with the present story.

My biggest gripe was the apparant overhaul of the earlier world rending my previous DLC useless. The only campaigns i could play where behind a new paywall (DLC) and the campaigns i should have had access too where nowhere to be seen. My character is still alive though.

Personally i see those football titles as something that is alltogether way more damaging....addictive, especially towards children and people with addiction sensitivities but that might also be a more local experience.

I was not addressing the OP. :)

I was asking for the source of the quotation in the fifth reply (by @Breja) "As if a switch had been turned, as if an eye had been blinked, as if some phantom force in the universe had made a move eons beyond our comprehension, suddenly, there was […]", since I was disinclined to search for the original source. Hence my attempt to channel the US afternoon quiz show, Jeopardy!, that until recently was hosted by the late Mr Trebek. (The game requires all contestants to phrase their answers as questions that would be correctly answered by the show's declarative statement that, in this case, was the quote.)

My guess was not correct.

I was paraphrasing closing narration from an infamous B-movie Monster a Go-Go.

I am so very sorry I answered someone's question and totally derailed your week old, entirely dead thread.

Please, go back to singing "glory songs" for DRMed platforms and online games.
