Guter: Yes, the ping effect gets very annoying. And the number shown for me is also wrong: It shows "8", but I have 6 games on my wishlist, 1 discounted. :P
If a game was removed from the store, it does not get removed from the wishlist and still gets counted, even if it's not shown. This is an ancient bug that they will probably never fixed.

GOG, please remove the ping on page load, it's annoying as hell.

No idea what the purpose is. If it was at least the number of currently discounted games on your wishlist, then fine, but it's just another way to open your wishlist with a, most likely, wrong number attached to it?

It is terrible to see that flashy orange notice every time I load a page... It doesn't add information that I didn't already know, and the number doesn't even match the games on my wishlist.

I'll eventually grow used to it to the point of my brain calling a "auto-ignore" function, but since my brain is a crappy ancient machine, I'll probably ignore chat notifications as well. The same as the purple dot.

gog.com##.menu-tray > .menu-wishlist

If you want to keep the icon but fix the inaccurate count, here are directions to remove invisible wishlist items. These get stuck in your wishlist when they're removed from the store. For whatever reason, the total on the wishlist page ignores them, but the icon doesn't.

I'm not sure how practically useful the new button is, but it's nice to at least see GOG doing something to change/update the site beyond just the front page.

Might be better instead of all wishlisted games number (what is even wrong number in my case) show only number of currently discounted titles

Maybe there should just be an off button!

LOL, it says I have 1 wishlist item while I don't even use the wishlist at all! And yep, its empty.

Damn, moving from page to page results in a beyond awful flash! I swear this was added just to annoy people.

Quite annoying, especially as i have nothing in my wishlist...

so i just blocked it.
