Thanks! That icon has been a major eyesore.

They could have at least used the same color as for the basket.
And there really should be a "I got it! Now shush!" option.
Damn, I missed it!
GOG, can you please add it again, so I can see what all the fuss is about?

Breja: As if a switch had been turned, as if an eye had been blinked, as if some phantom force in the universe had made a move eons beyond our comprehension, suddenly, there was no trail! There was no giant, no monster, no thing called "new wishlist icon " to be followed. There was nothing in the tunnel but the puzzled men of courage, who suddenly found themselves alone with shadows and darkness!
Monster-A-Gog-Gog?

jpolgesek: We've removed the wishlist icon from the menu and are working on a fix (as having it highlighted all the time was definitely not our goal :D)

(due to cache it might take ~15 minutes to fully disappear)
Would the fix just refer to the permanent highlighting or also involve fixing the wrong number issue, with the ghost entries of removed IDs?
GOG moves in mysterious ways...

Nice one. :D
Missed it too, but please GOG don't add it again, I'm absolutely not curious. :)

Okay, the whole annoying issue was worth it just because it inspired you to make this post.

Clownski_: All feedback's being noted! We're still testing some stuff and will be working on improving the feature.
Can we fix the Recent posts page for users with older more active accounts rather than add wish list buttons that give us nothing new?

Also, can we maybe have these features announced in advance instead of having them appear like an unsightly irritation of the sebaceous layers of the skin?
Aaand it's gone.
It'd be cool if it lit up to let you know a game on your wishlist was on sale.

Definitely, seems like they rushed rolling out the new feature. :)

These days there are so many sales pretty much all the time I really don't think there's ever a time when something on my wishlist isn't on sale. So unless there'd be an option to disable the notification, no thanks.

1000% AGREED! GOG pretty, pretty, pretty please .... there is a thing called COMMUNICATION. We tried to convey this concept to you in 2017 in person and told you that your community is willing to listen ... but you have to TALK to them first. We are not evil, we just would like to keep getting informed before you make such crucial decisions that will actually change the complete GOG experience in the end. Also, not everybody is using X/Twitter/Discord or whatever ... these are GOG forums aimed at GOG customers so why not use them to talk to your community for a change? How many years will it take you guys to learn that silence in most cases is the WORST form of non communication?

tfishell: I appreciate GOG trying new things, but yeah I don't like it.
Yep, I don't have an issue if there is some sense behind new things they try.
That said, if it isn't to our benefit, then we should have to opt in or at the very least have a way to opt out.
There has been a bunch of things I haven't minded, that I am not personally interested in, but I can see the possible sense in them.

Unnecessary popups and emails and standout icons are just an annoyance though.

At times it just feels like GOG are grasping at straws in what feels like desperation, and we are the unfortunate guinea pigs.

The number of items on my Wishlist is a pretty good indicator of what actually needs to improve ... prices.

Telling me I have a wishlist and that a whole bunch of things on it have discounts, is meaningless if those prices still aren't good enough, just the usual repeats, such that many of the games could be said to have two prices, with the second one being the supposed discount but really an alternate price that crops up once every month or three.

So if that icon represented the number of games on my wishlist that were below their regular alternate price, then I'd probably appreciate it ... or at least not be annoyed by it.
Thank you to the GOG team for listening to the community and undoing their change quickly. I certainly appreciate the effort.

I presume this was a move designed to increase sales like the related DLC/games on Galaxy launch pages. I suggest directing your efforts into improving the platform over time with the multitude of great community wishlist suggestions to attract older and newer customers.

It's one of the many reasons why so many people revere Steam. Valve gets a multitude of free suggestions from their userbase to improve the user experience, which they follow (with a lean amount of staff) and this organically leads to a better UX experience resulting in retaining/gaining more users and more sales.

Darvond and MarkoH01 are completely right - listen and communicate with your customers and GOG will succeed in the long term.
