No, the goalkeeper wasn't stupid at all. That was just unfortunate.

Thank you, oh benevolent football god, for not making it so Brazil has to play Spain in the round of 16.

What I have to say about Spain:
Torres has been with Liverpool for too long: He doesn't remember how to win.
Cesc needs to start since the Barca players aren't that great, unlike Cesc. Therefore, Del Bosque needs to switch up his starters.
Pique is awesome and glad he didn't get another injury this world cup.
England: Three Lions, Unlimited Excuses.
Argentina: Maradona

Now that was quite a nice match today. But evening [here at least] holds today's [here at least] main event, USA v Ghana. Can't wait for the evening [here at least]!

Yes!! And the US is back in the game. As much as the US stunk up the first half, the extra striker (I think that is what they changed, more guys forward anyway) seems be helping them own the second half. The Ghana defense has just been caving over and over (honestly, I think the US missed some nice opportunities made in the first 10 minutes of the half).
EDIT:
See now, Ghana knows how to take advantage of an opportunity... *sigh* The US had at least two opportunities just as good for a goal in the second half, and couldn't convert. For that, if the US loses I won't be THAT upset. Oh well, still over 20 minutes left in ET.
EDIT2:
Africa stays in the WC, it seems. I think the US just needed more experience; I really think they choked because of nerves on a few shots in the second half.
Now for the England/Germany match tomorrow! I think Germany will blitz England in the first half and totally take them off guard, getting a fast goal. I think that Englands goal area will be bombed by many kicks from the outside for the rest of the half, but England will hunker down and not let any goals through for the rest of the half.
In the second half, I think England will manage to flank Germany in a big push towards the middle of the half and tie it it up. England will be too winded after that, and reinforcements won't be available form the bench, to prevent an return goal by Germany, however. I call 2-1 Germany.
In other words, I think it will be WWII all over again (in case that wasn't obvious), just without the US there :P. Go England! :)

USA out, Ghana through.
No doubt the Americans here are feeling much like I might be tomorrow after Germany vs. England.
Glad to see an African team doing well though.

This after last game, when we won despite the best efforts of crooked referees...

Took too long to edit my post... But yeah, I would be more upset if the US hadn't choked those 2 or 3 times in the second half.
As for England/Germany, as I said above, I am pulling for England. However, I think it will be Germany 2-1 (no ET).

And the Battle of Britain Anno 2010 is underway.
And the refs are still useless. Geeze, you'd think FIFA would react and get rid of the dead meat by the knockout stages.
Instead you get some uruguayan who have already made a critical mistake. That was never a offside on Rooney.
You gotta love the live commentary on guardian.co.uk.
23 min: England look shocked. Ozil and Podolski have taken turns to run straight at the England back line, understandably having concluded that the players in it might bugger off for a cigarette at any given moment. Cole and Johnson take turns to get tackles in.
20 mins: KLOSE'S NUMBER 12!!! Germany 1-0 England. Dear Lord. Neuer hoofs a long ball upfield, straight down the middle. Terry is off on holiday, Upson was standing wondering whether to go with him, maybe stow away in his suitcase, and so Klose simply romps down the middle, poking a right-foot shot into the bottom-right corner. That is as simple a goal that's been scored in the entire history of All Football. What a defensive shambles. The centre backs want shooting when they come back.
SCANDALOUS REFEREEING ... THAT WAS A GOAL
