Cambrey: Besides Spain, most europeans teams are overrated anyway. I hope South Africa will do well.

Hahaha.
Just saw this on Youtube :D

stonebro: Cancel the tournament and default the gold to Spain.
They'll win this with one hand in play, the other gently applying testicular massage.
I've never seen such a fucking poor performance in a world cup.

... uhm....
Ok, you can always say this was sarcasm.
What is it with brazilian player's names? The first time I heard Kaká I went what? Really? Now they have "Maicon" which is one "r" short of spelling "Maricón" and whenever you hear the radio narrator saying the name, you can't help but make a double take and wonder if he's insulting someone.
Then there's Elano. "El ano" means "The Anus" in spanish. It's kinda hard for newspapers to print "Elano scores in the world cup" without making the headlines sound funny.
Argentina has best skilled players but their teamwork is not so good. They can win the cup if they can do some good teamwork for the future matches.

FAIL.
I'm done with this crap tournament.
Can anyone explain that red card in the last match?
Disclaimer: Yes, Uruguay was better, but that red card decision was insane.
[at least it shut those vuvuzela's up ;P]
Hahaha, gotta love ONN, though it would sound more convincing if they'd use the word "football". ;)

Afraid I can't explain that red card call at all, seemed completely ludicrous to me... but Fifa referees have supreme power.... *sigh*
well, there goes my country.... *sighs*.....
*sigh*
:P
(actually, in the stadiums the vuvuzelas arn't as loud... but I can see how foreigners can be... disgruntled by them :P but hey, this is a one time thing, African tradition... Ayoba!)

One of the rules of football is that committing a foul as the last defender is an automatic red card, although that's usually turned into a yellow card when there is also a penalty.
So the referee may have been harsh but he only followed the rules to the letter.
Not that it made much of a difference to the result of the game.
To all those saying this tournament is crap, it's not any worse than previous ones. There are just fewer really weak teams that only serve as sparring partners, and more teams that try to defend and get a draw.
Hopefully it'll get more interesting after the group phase.

I personally have nothing against vuvuzelas, really. They are not any worse than "traditional" air horns that we use in Europe and they are part of the african folklore. It's just the permanent buzzing that annoys most foreigners. The 24/7 must be tough for players as well.
Unlike vuvuzelas, air horns don't last forever. :D

Falling on Your own arse is not a foul, at least, last i checked it wasn't. ;)

The result does not matter for me. I care for the game, not 'who wins'.

On the TV they are.;) I don't really mind them, but since their sound is constant and never ending it does ruin the crowd reaction thing a bit. And i loved that crowd roar when Drogba entered the field, it would sound a bit better without the constant beehive effect.;)

Indeed, ONN has probably got to be the best, most reliable news network in the world, lol.
Anyway, South Africas red card has to be the worst softest red card I've ever seen. The goalie barely clipped him. Another case of the grass tripping people up again :(

xa_chan: Domenech is definitely not the coach they need.

And vice versa.
After that match, my opinion about our football "team" hasn't changed a bit from page 1 : I don't give a crap. In my opinion and paradoxically, what happened today is a good thing and I'm hoping for 2 things now :
- South Africa will humiliate our team, just because.
- If Laurent Blanc gets to coach our national team, I hope he will dispatch that mercenary gang that we dare to call a football team, and replace them with players who deserve and respect the jersey. That he will teach the new team some humility as well.
Comparing these greedy fuckers with our rugby team is like comparing day and night.

Well, looks like this World Cup is starting to have a "fall of the giants" vibe to it. It's not over yet but the level of surprises we're getting proves that no team can sit on their laurels.
Spain lost to Sweden.
France lost to Mexico.
Germany lost to Serbia.
And Slovenia is winning 2 to 0 against the US as I type this.
I can't help go whaaaat...?
Now, if Argelia wins against England, then I'll go WHAAAAAAAAAAATTTT....!?!?

Sweden isn't in the World Cup this time...

Yes. And that's why the red card was given. A foul committed as the last defender against a player in such good position that he's likely to score, is an automatically red card. So are the rules.
Now granted, the forward took off in such a dramatically way, he should be awarded with at least an oscar nomination. He was looking for getting that penalty, no doubt about it. Still, the ref didn't had any other choice, given the current ruleset.

I cry as I type this. The yanks got us 2:2 in a juggernaut stile offensive. Our guys were awesome in the first half, then got stereotypically worse. More importantly, USA got together, and the judge was just mad. All in all, a good play for our guys, and a good one for the Americans. But still, so close...

Now it's all down to Algeria. If they at least draw USA, it's party time for us.
