Made the mistake of buying Duke Nukem Forever when it went on sale this year. I thought "wow! 75% off! It can't be that bad, can it!?"

Oh how wrong I was.

StingingVelvet: Max Payne 3 I guess? I didn't play a lot of games this year because I was away from my gaming PC, but I bought MP3 for close to full price and then played very little of it because I found it cumbersome and annoying.
Also easily the prettiest, boring game I've played all year.

Really... boring...

I pre-ordered the Balls of Steel Edition... yeaaahh. The best thing to come from that was the tiny Duke Nukem bust. I didn't hate the game, but it was far from what I had hoped.
For me it would be To the Moon. I felt that its game-y elements were distracting, kind of like how combat in Planescape: Torment is. Not to mention how, despite its frequent jabs at its story, being cheesy etc, it still is cheesy. (And the wasted potential! Maybe in the next installment?) But maybe this is just my inner lit nerd ranting. I should have picked SpaceChem instead!

(It would actually have been Diablo 3 but someone bought it for me, so I suppose that doesn't count. In return I happily bought ourselves copies of Torchlight 2.)
While none of the games I personally bought were particularly disappointing (if only because I knew that I might not like them when I bought them), I got the Metal Gear Solid HD Collection for my birthday (I requested it). Definitely disappointing. It wasn't bad or anything; I had quite a bit of fun on a few parts in MGS 2, and I greatly enjoyed most of MGS 3. But it was entirely underwhelming, and far too often, especially in MGS 2, the drama got so heavy it was cheesy. I kind of expected as much from reviews I read, but actually playing the game, it was a little off-putting.

Again, I'm not saying the games are bad. They just didn't live up to the hype.
Expendable, right here on GoG. What the FUCK is up with the controls!?
Not costed much but I Shall Remain disapointed me.

rawmilk905: I didn't play those in the 80's, I was too young. I tried it out with Grimrock, and I didn't care for it. It is advertised as "updated" at least graphically, so I thought it looked interesting. Don't tell me I have "no one to blame but myself" for trying something new to me and not liking it.

tomimt: If you really were expecting third person gameplay, then yes, you are only one to blame, as nothing like that wasn't promised with the game. It's retro game with modern graphics and that was how it was sold.
I wasn't expecting third person, but I was expecting a smoother and more realistic feel.

The old Max Payne games are far more boring if you ask me.... while I'm not arguing with you, I was able to actually beat this one which is more than I can say about the 1st 2.

Elmofongo: Dude I bought GTX 560ti for my brothers new desktop for Battlefield 3 and it was running OK and the game was good, I mean how is it not a PC made game first and formost, what does make a PC dedicated game anyway?
It runs great. Even on Ultra. They did a good job on the engine. No question about that. The shoddiest thing about it is need to run the game from a web page of all things. There's nothing on that site which couldn't have been incorporated directly into the game and hasn't been for many a title before this.

The real issue is EA's willingness to kill off titles that are a couple of years old, and how easy having a web page as your means of accessing the game makes that incredibly easy. They can just update the page and BAM! Dead game.

So maybe it's not merely a matter of shoddiness, maybe it's more a matter of shoddiness resulting from EA's untrustworthiness and the rather open way they implement DRM in a manner that clarifies the real motivation behind the existence of all DRM. Control and the increased profits gained from exercising that control.

There's no other explanation for why they've done this. They've made the game as killable as possible. You can't deny that when they've created the worst means of starting a AAA game in the history of gaming.

Yeah, it's a shame they don't put their old games on some page were you can buy them cheap and without hassle.

For all the shit PC exclusive gamers talk about console gamers, at least we don't have to deal with shit like this. You buy a game... it fucking works until the system dies or the game gets destroyed. This (along with the fact that I don't have the money for a high end computer &/or to keep updating them every year or so) is the major reason that I mainly play games on consoles.

I don't know what you're trying to say here. That people should have to buy games twice to be able to keep playing them? That people should like waiting however many years it takes for the games that EA kills off to become available on GOG? Or maybe you just think that games should not be bought until a decade later when they're finally available on GOG?

Whatever it is you're trying to say it's not something that the majority of people are going to be happy with.
My only disappointing game purchase last year was Alan Wake. With the screwed up PC controls and camera angles the game was really not enjoyable for me. It's so bad that I even stopped playing it and never finished it. Which doesn't happen often to me.

Don't think that you're so secure. EA have already begun killing off single player content for consoles and PCs. Namely Saboteur DLC. Which doesn't sound like much until you realise that they're killing single player content for no reason other than because they can.
