spindown: There is a project called KeeperFX..

445rfrf: I already tried this prog.. I start the launcher.exe. Click at "Installation" and choose the GOG installation folder. But then the prog. says "The folder you`ve selected dosn`t seem to contain files needed by KeeperFX".
Okay, here's how it works: KeeperFX requires the full CD image of Dungeon Keeper. Luckily, an iso CD image is contained in the GOG installation. This is easily overlooked because for some stupid reason the GOG tech guys decided to name the image file "game.gog."

So rename the image file from "game.gog" to something like "keeper.iso" and mount the image using Daemon Tools Lite or a similar program. Protip: Mount the image to the drive letter A (or some letter that comes before the drive letter of your optical drive alphabetically), otherwise the in-game music might not play.

After you have mounted the image, direct the KeeperFX launcher to the "Keeper" folder on the CD. It will then copy all the necessary files over to the KeeperFX directory and you should be able to play the game.

445rfrf: I just wanted to criticize the Support from GOG.
Just a word of advice - if you have problems with GOG games and you are in a need of assistance - your first pick should be always COMMUNITY. First read and post game-specific forum and if it doesn't help, after say a week, - ask on General Discussion as there are more users posting here.
If it doesn't help - send a ticket support but, ekhm - don't expect much from that...We could discuss if it is how it should be - but this is another matter. Just accept how things work here or consider an idea that it's not a place for you.

445rfrf: Evry Game i tried in the DosBox is beginning after 20sec to lagging.
So maybe it's a general DOSBox problem? Did you try to ask for help on DOSBox forum?

I don't understand all the downrating, this thread is extremely amusing!
I dunno whether to laugh or cry.

OP, who cares if you rant on the forums. It isnt helpful, posting that your having problems and asking for help might have worked but that does not introduce yourself well and IMO if thats what your gonna do good riddance.

the downrepping IDK. with GOG.com i understand the OP getting down repped but i forget who wrote it. (the second low rated post) I found that to not be worth down repping, just heavily laced with sarcasm.

Wow now it works.
Thank you man.

But its a pity that Dos Box dont work. I would buy more games at GOG but if they must all run in Dos Box...

It's only the DOS games that need DOSBox. It's very rare for a GOG game on both Windows and DOS to prioritize the DOS version (Dungeon Keeper is the exception). If you check a game in the catalogue, there's a list of GOG Mixes on the bottom right, and if it does require DOSBox it will ususally say there.

That being said, Dungeon Keeper 1 and 2 are two of the most problematic releases on here. Most work a lot better. Not all, but the majority.

Finding a decent DOSBox frontend can sometimes help too. The only one I've ever used is Boxer, which I believe is OSX only. There are plenty out there though.

Sorry dude, that's just not true. In fact it is the reverse. I think it's because there isn't a win95 / 98 emulator, or just because DOSBox is generally really good, but they favour the DOS versions.

My bad. I was specifically thinking of Fallout and such, but I realized I was being dense. You're right, usually the reverse.

DOSBox does work, unfortunately it sometimes requires tuning, and you need to be a bit more familiar with it than a general user would. Usually the GOG DOSBox games run fine straight out of install, I think you just had a bad experience.

As I think you've discovered though, there is a community here to get you up and running (Sorry about the trolls, and my vocab argument with that chap). If you enjoy DK, it's worth trying another. Or just hang about for a giveaway (there are loads now) and see if one of those work.

On my list is next LBA1 + 2. Without Dos Box there is no chance to play it.
So i think i aks for help in the Dos Box Forum.

Actually there is. If you look on the LBA forum, the LBA win project is commented on there. It's not easy to set up, but people on that forum will be happy to help. Can't say I've done it myself, DOS worked fine for me.

But wait – you mentioned that you have 2 computers – is there a problem with DOSBoxed games on both? Have you considered running DOSBox on another OS or on Virtual PC? Linux-driven DOSBox gaming could be problematic but– it’s easy to set up a virtual machine with Windows and then install & run DOSBox GOGs there – although I can say nothing about performance of such approach.

I agree. It's sad I missed the the most of it due to the initial downrep.
