If I was to take this up again, what should I buy?
I've got the first Guild Wars, Prophecies I believe its called. What's the difference in the expansions in terms of content?

phanboy4: Woo, it's a bit more fun than I anticipated. Still a noobish L10 Mo\Me, though.

Almak: Hows the monk working out for ya so far? Haven't tried rolling a monk myself but like in any RPG with a multiplayer component, they're in high demand (plus you can farm with them like there's no tomorrow).

Pretty well actually. I need more skills to be a truly helpful party member, but yeah, Monks are somewhat uncommon so I do find plenty of partners.

I'd go with Nightfall. I bought Nightfall recently after I had Prophecies for a long time, and I have to say I've been plesantly surprised by it. Something about it just feels fresh.

Agreed. Prophecies (Eye of the north not withstanding) is likely the weakest (aesthetically and structurally) of the three. So get yourself Nightfall and work your way down.

Almak: The only advice I can give you is don't tank, unless you're specked to do so (farming etc.). Paragons are support characters (in most cases). Assemble your party with that in mind. Always have some warriors (or dervishes) to tank for you. Paragons work best at range, so take that in consideration and put some distance between you and the targets. Other than that they aren't very difficult one you get the hang of it (which should be pretty fast) so just enjoy the game. :)

Unless you load up on major (why would you) or superior runes, a Paragon is completely able to stand on the front line. Being ranged, it's natural that you -don't-, but with an 80AR, a shield, and numerous buffs, a Paragon can certainly take some direct hits. Remember, Warriors have the same armor and shields.

Absolutely, but that is not how I played. And that's perfectly fine since what I described in the previous post is just my own play style (one of many possible). I saw people roll Paragons as a tank (and pretty successfully as well) but I myself have tried it and preferred the ranged combat to close range. It is most certainly possible though, I completely agree.
To be even more specific, the strategy I described is intended to complement the skill set I mentioned in the previous post as well (the first one illustrated with the code). That strategy and that skill set is how I played the game.

Okay, bit of a necro here, but I got Nightfall today and will get it installed and all up to date soon. I don't have to install prophecies again do I?

i don't think u have to install, while im not really sure coz i installed them all. I think the game should download needed content if u add nightfall key to your existing account.
Anyway i recently started to play Guild Wars again, one of my characters name is Caleb Rain, i didnt finish any of campains yet so im up for questing with fellow GOGers.

Ha wow, GW... Been a long time! Actually, I think my oldest characters' fourth birthdays just passed. I'd gladly join a GOG guild, but I'm really very attached to my cape, so if you've got alliance slots free that'd be sweet times.
IGN Aayla Darana

My in-game name is Dahlia The Vile. I play when it feels like it, I own Every campaign minus BMP. Please add me to your friends list!

oh I remember guild wars. I got it when it came out actually. Got all the expansions too.
Good times, good times
Yay for GW! Still a couple of months for my 4th birthday pressie ^^
If anyone's interested in needing a hand in AB, quests, missions or even GvG, you can ask me (IGN: Isaar Deathgaze).
I can also invite any volunteers to my guild (kurzick), which is mainly for the cape and the hall so no real requirements of activity exist.
I own all the campaigns (faving the Factions) and am looking forward to GW2 :)
