Orryyrro: Different compared to the others, all combat is in instances, you need a party of sorts just about everywhere but you can bring AI henchmen and heroes to fill roles you need, you can instantly travel to any town you have been to before, PvP is done all in specific areas with team vs. team formats, no armour repairs, max level and gear takes less than a week, only allowed 8 skills on your bar so you have to plan ahead, I can go on if you would like.

akwater: Go on.... What is the servers like as far as population? Waht is the learning curve like? recommended internet connection?>
um... sorry went to a wedding so a bit inebriated at the moment...
also ist the trilogy pack guild Wars Trilogy the one to snag if i do like it?

It's a "single server" game, you can switch between American, European, Asian and International districts at will when you are in town, when out of town you are only with your party so it doesn't matter.
The learning curve depends on what campaign you start in, Prophecies starts off slow and gives you a lot of skills as quest rewards, Factions gets you out of the newbie area rather quickly and then thrusts you into the level 20 content right away and Nightfall is a bit of a middle ground. Although, all of them do get easy for the first few missions after getting level 20 and max armour, but a little after they get interesting again. But so long as you don't do anything stupid like run into a mob alone you should be fine.
Any internet connection works with Guild Wars, I used to play it on dial-up and it worked fine, just a little long loading some maps occasionally.
If you do like it, yes the trilogy pack, or the complete pack with the 3 campaigns and the Eye of the North expansion.
cool well at 18% now... so hopefully by morning it will be done ill try it after work :) thanks for the intel

Been a GW player for a few years but havent played it in a while :)
But i may start again, my main character is Scypher Dementia.
Saying that i still havent completed any of the stories :P LOL
Quite excited for GW2 however.
Ask me for help if you like any time : "Me Orry Me" but my friends list is pretty much full, so I probably won't be able to add you.
The Necromancer is looking very yummy (either that or Dervish, due to the Scythe), but I have a question:
Looks like the same skill benefits my corpse raising, my corpse defiling, and my cold damage. Obviously I would be better off with focusing on either an army of undead or killing things (directly), but how feasible would it be to do so? Will I be stuck as a paper-bag with an army of stinky things with many questionable wounds from when the necrophiliacs found them, or will I also be able to defend myself in a pinch?

There is a necromancer skill that allows you to redirect 75% of the damage you take to the nearest minion, and another one that transfers any conditions you get off of you and onto your nearest minion, these make it a bit harder to die, which is good, because dying turns all your minions hostile to everything.
The "Minion Master" is definitely a viable build, most necromancers either do that or Curses.
But keep and mind if you don't like how you set your character up you can freely change any skills and attributes while in town, and you can change your secondary profession later on.

Should probably clarify.
I like the idea of being a minion master and the like (especially now that I am told that my babies will go crazy and kill all my teammates if I die), but I still want to have something to do :p
So what I was wondering was how feasible it would be to have my party of corpses, but also to have maybe one or two semi-useful spells to hit people with. I know the first few necromancer spells are largely direct damage, but will kitting myself out to have undead babies mean that there is no point to even bothering to put a direct damage spell on my quickbar?
I used to play on dial-up and it worked pretty well. Of course, sometimes when an area is loading it can take awhile. But once it's loaded, it played well. I'm eager to see how much better it plays now that I've got broadband.
I own Nightfall and Factions, but don't play much, and I haven't gotten very far in either.
I've been thinking of getting Prophecies + Eye of the North though, and, as it is as expensive on Steam as through the official in-game store, I've been thinking of getting them through Steam.
Would that cause any trouble though, could I just add those to my account like I did when I bought Factions after already installing Nightfall?
I don't really know how Steam works when it comes to this stuff, as the stuff I've bought there has mainly been old stuff I haven't found on GOG, like X-COM.
I suppose you get a product key you could just add to your account when you buy it through steam?

It's no problem, a few days ago I added Nightfall and Factions (through steam) to my old Prophecies account... instead of installing through steam, you just copy your cd-key and write it in your Guild Wars - voila, expansion activated :) You don't ever have to touch steam anymore (at least when it comes to Guild Wars :)

Most likely you will want to have a self heal and "Blood of the Master"(sacrifice health in order to heal minions, useful because minions slowly degenerate health) but direct damage is definitely viable on a Minion Master bar, since it only takes up about half of the skills you need you can pretty much take anything you want for the remainder. But you will always be doing something behind your army of minions, because keeping the minions alive is an active role. And you can add pretty much whatever you want as utility.
Ah, sounds a bit too general-y for me then. Back to looking through professions. Besides, looks like I get a golem-Dervish from owning the Trilogy, so that should work for providing a generic companion.
