lackoo1111: so,how many of you guys stayed at home, just to buy and play this game today?

The good news for me was that the countdown timer ended just 5 minutes after I got home from school. So I had no need to stay home at all ;). The bad news is that I have to do a bank transfer from my bank account to my PayPal account, and that usually takes three days, so no Outcast for me until Friday :(
Instant buy for me, I loved this game back in the day. Thanks GOG !
BTW I tried the unofficial 640x480 patch, and from what I can tell, it should work perfectly =)
Too bad it will never work on higher resolutions. Well I hope someone would someday, somehow remake Outcast by using CryEngine 2 or something :D. I know there was once (dont know if there is anymore) some Crysis Outcast mod coming.
Posted the news on /v/ the guys seriously became euphoric.
Instabuy.
I can't believe it's here, and with the soundtrack.
HAHAHA and gog borrowed that Crysis tagline, I 100% agree with it... :)
I've had a horrible day so far. Then GOG came and shone their ray of happiness upon me. Two releases, three games, really cheap? My day is not so bad after all.
Thanks GOG for brightening my day, I really needed it! :)

Never played it, but from what I see here it is a must. How well do you think it would run on a netbook? It sounds like it is a resouce hog. Anyone tried it yet?

There is. They released a tech-demo running in Crysis Warfare a couple of months ago. Nothing major but it really looked and felt like Outcast and you get to screw around on a little map.

The project is still working, actually they released a playable demo :)

Holy shit, I just have found the reason to buy Crysis now.
I do not normally bother posting or commenting, but some events stir up enough memories and happiness that it nearly compels me to write about my impressions of this game!
In the 1990s I remember drooling over magazine shots of this game. Waiting for it to be released, reading all the previews and information about voxels and so forth. The game appeared so epic and vast. I remember I could not raise the cash to buy a computer that would ever be able to run it: being a young kid at the time with only a paper round. I had to go around to my mates house to see it in action.
This game has real levels of depth, I don't post this as some sort of fan boy, you can see from my post count I normally don't even bother commenting. But if you are even slightly interested in collecting wonderful Games from the past this is a must have.
I try to collect as many true A+ vintage gaming experiences as I can, and this one has been at the top of my list for years - I could never get a copy of it to work on my pcs, even ones I paid way too much for on EBay. So 5.99 seems like a deal of the century. I hope the gog staff did not have to sell their wives to Atari to get this good of a deal for us!

No, but they did promise their firstborns to them.

+1 : I'm curious about netbook compatibility too.
It appears the Voxel engine runs on CPU only, while the GPU sits and does nothing. This is usually bad for our poor Atom CPUs. But the requirements state the CPU should be around 500MHz to handle the game, I guess a standard Atom should be able to deliver that much computing power. Plus the resolution problem would be less obvious on a small netbook screen.
even though I'm pretty sure I won't play this game any time soon (if ever), this game just can't stay not-bought :D
very, very epic, this one... ;)
