DirtyD: This is just amazing. Finally no hassle when it comes to Outcast. And finally music! I've never gotten it to work on modern OS's so that's one hell of a bonus to an already epic game.
One question: Can you play without the dvd mounted?
avatar
Lucibel: Yes...this is a game download site...

Yes I know but I guess you download an iso or something and maybe need it to be mounted. However now I know that's not the case. Thanks!

thornton_s: I already own the CD version. Just wanting to check if there are any differences between this version besides the patches being applied ? Is the intro video better quality ?

I'd say it's a bit more then just the patches being applied, it's a really stable version of OC ... but if you're happy with your CD version I guess there is no real reason to buy it here. As far as I can tell the intro video is about the same quality.
The issue I am having is with the audio skipping, and text dialogue skipping. The only fix is reworking the Audio Acceleration in dxdiag. I would have held off personally, as I dislike having to tweak my system and then un-tweak it every time I want to play a game.
finally! :)
thx GOG, thx ATARI!
outcast for 5.99$ is a MUST
I was really annoyed it wasn't full screen.
Thanks to the Outcast forum section it's fixed full screen with a new core executable. There are a few bugs but the game is playable so far. Time will tell.

From what I remember and being really impressed with the video quality. Especially the opening video with the ice cubes glistening in Cutter's glass. It's really bad. It makes me want to break out my copy and install it on my old 98se computer. Just to see the difference. I'm not really complaining just making an observation.
------------------------------Edit
Tried installing my CD version on Vista with patches and all but it crashes. We are very lucky to have a working copy especially on todays systems. I'm guessing they used a video compressor to recompress the intro video. That's why it looks so bad. But the game its self looks fine and works just like I remember it.

riddler214: The most epic GOG release to date!! Instabuy! XD

Michagogi23: to me the GK series and the Goblins series have been the most anticipated and thus most epic release on gog! :D

Sorry, but the most epic release would The Legend of Kyrandia trilogy.
Is this game English only, or is it the multilingual version?

I want to pick this up, but my list of games to play is already very massive. I'll definitely pick it up, but it may be a few weeks.

It seems to be multilingual from the installed files, but I don't actually know how to switch language... I (or someone else) will figure it out and get some information up in the appropriate thread.

awesome. will purchase as soon as I buy a new mouse. My current mouse is pretty screwed up
I am planning to buy and download this game during the weekend. Could anyone tell me if the installer has been updated to include the "Insert DVD" fix?
I have no idea whether or not the installer has been updated, but seeing as how the fix for that problem is the deletion of a character string, I expect GOG will tweak it, soon.

There's also a thread explaining how to change the game language

Yep, that information is already added to the list.
