Say hello to XIII - probably the most unique FPS of all time. Definitely one of the best. Discover it, play it and perhaps shed a tear at the lack of a sequel.

XIII is a first-person shooter based on the first five volumes of a popular Belgian comic book series. You're put in the shoes of XIII, badly wounded and with no recollection of your past. The American president has been assassinated and all of a sudden everyone's out to get you. Are you the assassin? Were you framed? Whoever you are, you must be damn important and you won't let anyone stop you from reclaiming your identity.
What makes XIII special is its comic book-style design. The characters and weapons are cel-shaded, outlines and all, and there's a whole bunch of stylish features, like visualized sound effects. Imagine shooting a gun and seeing "BLAM!" right next to the muzzle flash. Just how cool is that?
Finally, a great, involving storyline, a perfect musical score, and top-notch voice acting by such actors as David Duchovny and Adam West make XIII an absolutely epic game.

El_Caz: Wait, what? Does this end on "to be continued"?

I don't like spoilers, but when the spoiler is a warning, I can at least prepare mentally for the disappointment, like it happened with that game of the girl and her dragon.
I don't remember whether it has those exact words, but essentially, yes. It ends on a gigantic cliffhanger and you can tell it was intended to have a sequel.

If you really want to know the rest of the story, you can just read the comics. There are 14 books, and the game covers about the first five IIRC.
I remember reading a preview of this game way back when. I was intrigued.
I am still intrigued.

Now that I know this, it's not really necessary. It IS disappointing when you play blindly into it, though.
I played this on the PS2 and enjoyed it immensely. I would encourage all shooter fans to give this one a look.
Underrated game, very fun. I have the disc version so I'm not sure I will be buying right away, but since the disc version is like 5 CDs and probably has a disc-check on it it's probably worth $5 to get rid of all that.
I had this game on Gamecube and Xbox and I am sooooo happy GOG finally got this gem of a game on here, without the horrendous DRM! Purchasing it the moment my account reloads. :)

...but is it worth $6?

The original retail version along with the Gamer's Gate release contain DRM in the installer which isn't compatible with 64 bit windows. Ubi eventually released a patch that stripped the DRM out of the game after it's installed but the problem of the installer still provides a barrier for 64 bit machines (Here is a work around for installing on 64 bit windows)

Definitely sounds like it is worth $6 to get it hassle-free then.
This game was okay. Outside of the stylish presentation, I thought it was pretty run-of-the-mill. Duchovny sure worked hard on his part, though - he got up so early to record those lines, you could actually hear him falling asleep at the mic.

You could do worse here for $6, but you could also do better.
AWESOME RELEASE :D Thank you GoG!!
They turned this into a Miniseries with Stephen Dorff and Val Kilmer, It Ended on a Cliffhanger as well.
That's a interesting addition! Good job GOG!
The cliff hanger makes this a no purchase for me, though the design looks interesting, reminds me of that for "Last Express".
