AzureKite: an awesome device.

ET3D: I completely agree. Some will not "get" it, and like many self absorbed tech commentators will think this means it won't succeed, and if it does they will continually be baffled by it and call its user by various unflattering names.
No no we "get" it we just don't want to get it. It's yet another NV lock on something that was open before.

Wishbone: That seems like a silly question. Since always? It seems to work for Sony, Apple, Nintendo, Microsoft, etc.

AzureKite: And didn't work for many and many more, unfortunately. So yes, the question in fact is how many of those will actually fit in the throat?
Well, the reason so many have failed is because so many have tried. But I didn't say "and they will succeed", I just said "they will try". Because that's what most of them do. They go for closed, proprietary systems, because that's where the money are, if they succeed. If they use completely open standards, then they will be undercut by cheap Chinese knockoffs, as you say.

Another nonsensical sentence. I'd be interested (just to satisfy my curiosity) what you feel was open that NVIDIA locked here, and what previous open things you think it has locked.

The streaming tech they are using has been around for awhile and the original dev showed it running on much more than just GeForce cards... strangely since NV bought them it's now a requirement... shocking...

And how is it nonsensical? we get what they are trying to do we also don't want to go near it... reading comprehension fail?
What I think you don't get is what's attractive about it. It's obvious you dislike this product in many ways, which is why I find it hard to believe that you can understand why people would want this. I hope this makes it clearer what I mean by "get it" because I think you didn't get that before.
One of the serious questions is how much will nVidia ask for the device. I'm sure it won't be sold without profit, because there's no closed ecosystem attached like Sony/MS/Nintendo have, hence no profit from game sales. And to get the full potential (remote play) you have to use GeForce 650 minimum videocard. It is not the most expensive hardware, yet by no means cheap. As the console is scheduled for estimated Q2 of this year, price tag knowledge would be a good thing .
For my part, I am really just hyped about how all these companies are coming out with open platforms based on PC and Android. I believe this can only be a good thing for the industry moving forward.
Am I personally interested in Nvidia's kit, though? No, not really. At least not now at this moment. I do all my gaming and entertainment on the same monitor; don't really need to bring my games with me everywhere I go, and I have yet to see any Android game I am actually interested in playing. So it may not be for me, but I can definitely see the appeal, and it is exciting for that reason.
