They can't charge you without consent/credit card, I think you're fairly safe in the regards of if you can't pay for it when it comes up they won't hunt you down like deer.

GOG, this is beautiful and you guys are truly the best. I told myself Starcraft 2 would be the last game i'd buy full price, but I'll buckle for this one. I'll need to check what the minimum specs for the Witcher 2 will be before I buy something I can't run, but even then, I've still got 6 months if I need to update anything.

edit: By the way, you could add the minimum system requirements on the pre-order page to avoid some people the hassle of finding those out elsewhere.

Pre-ordered from here and collectors edition from play.com for the physical stuff. It is nice to see CDProjekt on my personal list of good game companies, it's been so empty lately.

Om nom nom... I loved the first game insanely much, so imagine my surprise when I learn it's up for preorder on the best online store :D Instant preorder in my case. This is seriously epic.

I'm not going to lie, I prefer boxed copies, but if the price of this is going to be so low and the deal sweetened with a free game, plus no DRM... well, I'm not sure how I can refuse.

Can I ask, is it possible for GOG.com to offer a lossless (FLAC?) version of the soundtrack? I imagine the CD version will be higher quality than MP3, and I'm a bit of an audiophile.

This is great news :D I would probably buy the retail version, but still, GOG stepping into new games distribution is great. :)

This will be a very interesting experiment (and maybe costly for CD Project, but I hope not). As a consumer you now can choose between the following:

-A physical copy with lots of physical goodies (not sure about DRM status here)
-Steam release with Achievements and Steam Cloud for savegames in exchange for Steam DRM
-GOG release with no DRM and price compensation (for Europeans)

The most interesting thing is that the DRM-free GOG release makes DRM on all the other releases completely redundant. A very ballsy move, CD project really put their money where their mouth is when it comes to DRM. I really hopes this works out for them.

Awesome guys. Since TW1 was awesomely great, I truly hope people won't just fool around and be total jerks with a DRM free version, it would be insanely unfair.

Unfortunately I rarely (never) pre-order. You never know if the game is good or bad and bug-free or how much content will be added later. I usually buy not before three months after release. That probably means that I am not an A customer. But then I like to play a polished product and not take part in the worldwide testing process. And I also want to have the finished, full product. So, although I am really looking forward to Witcher 2, pre-ordering is not my thing. For those who do it: the deal sounds good. 16$ GOG voucher means two games for free and 45€ is a common initial price for a good game.

I think i'll pass on this GOG preorder, not willing to pay £31.49 for a digital copy of a game, regardless of any extras that may come with it or lack of DRM. Especially when play,com has the premium edition for £24.99, and i'm very much a fan of having something in meatspace.

That, and i'm also eyeing up the Collector's edition.

Steam cloud only works with the Steam version, and even then it should be supplementary to local saving. Everywhere else should be strictly local saving only.

Personally, that Premium edition may make me buy the physical version, because physical extras always trumps digital copies of said physical extras. Going to wait and see what the UK retail DRM is first.
