King's Bounty Series, Il-2 Sturmovik, Blitzkrieg Series, Silent Storm S2, and other wargames 70% off!

War is, undeniably, a part of human nature. Or maybe even nature in general. Everywhere you look wars are being waged. Even in your own backyard you'll find ant colonies fighting each other in endless struggle for resources and living space. According to many theories war is the single most progressive force in human history. Whether we like it or not, the root of most technological, and even social advancement lie in the race for military strength. There is no wonder war fascinates us and holds a prominent place in our imagination. And--of course--all of that interest we take in it, is being expressed via computer games. Today, we invite you to join us for a [url=http://www.gog.com/promo/1c_gsc_nival_1c_online_weekend_promo_310114]Wargaming Weekend with 18 excellent strategy and tactics titles offered whole 70% off. Let's take a brief look at some of the games, shall we?

King's Bounty: The Legend and its continuation, King's Bounty: Crossworlds GOTY play a lot like a Heroes of Might & Magic game. But simply calling them clones would be unjust. Saying that they're "genetically enhanced clone"--as one of our users called it--would be much more fair. The gameplay is full of unique ideas and the high-fantasy setting of the game has a very distinctive feel to it. With many, many hours of gameplay, innumerable tasks to complete, giant world to explore, and a great variety of enemies to defeat, those gems of a strategic-RPG truly deserves your attention. Yours for $2.99 and $5.99 respectively.

Blitzkrieg Anthology and Blitzkrieg 2 Anthology are both extensive, realistic, and multifaceted strategy gems. Don't miss the opportunity to get yourself hours upon hours of excellent and challenging strategic gameplay that will test your skills as a military commander. Both games excel in portraying the reality of the World War II campaigns down to detailed unit specifics and equipment. You'll get a chance to recreate the most important battles that served as turning points of mankind's most terrifying conflict up to date. Once you finish all the engaging single-player scenarios, you can challenge your friends online or use the provided map editor to create your very own campaigns. They can be a part of your collection for only $2.99 each!

That's only a small part of our Wargaming Weekend promo. Head out to the promo page to be fully briefed on our offer and start planning the tactics on your approach. The offer lasts until Tuesday, February 4, at 4:59AM GMT. Over and out!
Just Yesterday, i've been looking for Soldiers:HoWWII and they are on promo today...although i swore not to buy anything this month anymore...i failed miserably! Even added Sturmovik for good measure...

touche! (and a nice one at that :) )

Marci87: From this promo I'll get Cossacs only.
I already have the Kings Bounty Gold Edition UFO and Fantasy Wars on other site ;)

Or do you have anything to recommend?

Pabluzcu: You are getting Cossacs and not getting American Conquest?
You have it already? You know it right?

Cause if you dont know it, it´s like a somehow-better-gameplay Cossacs, set in a "conquest of the new world" enviroment, if you like Cossacs then American Conquest is a must-buy, for the price there

(sorry if you know all this, just curious you buy Cossacs and not Am.Conqu., which for me it was a better game, I enjoyed both but liked the second a bit more)
I liked Cossacks but it did become difficult to the point of panic inducing especially on a few costal missions where I had to employ a cheat just to know where to move my defenses. Is American Conquest any more/less forgiving? Like I said Cossacks was fun but I don't know if I could handle another three hours of: low on ammo, get more iron, not enough miners, need more people, now I'm out of food, need more farmers, more food, can't defend the farms because my army is still out of ammo, need more iron, my miners are dead, AHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I laughed at this title name: Heroes of Annihilated Empires
It seems so oxymoronic,

I know virtually nothing about this RTS style of gaming. Spent too much time with FPS and RPG ... 70% off seems pretty good though.

I love these games but I don't really consider any of them pure RTS which is my favorite genre. Maybe I'm splitting hairs here but IMO games like AOE 1 & 2, StarCraft, and C&C are the blueprint RTS and the games in this promo while great really don't play like any of those.
At last! The day has come that I shall possess a copy of Etherlords II without the wretched protection of StarForce!
Fortune has not forsaken me after all.

Thank you. The Starforce copy protection can burn in hell for all I care. It's the worst copy protection in my eyes.

gandalf.nho: I like RTSs like Age of Empires, what the ones in this promo are more close of this style and aren't difficult?
avatar
Soccorro: If you're looking for an AOE styled game, I'd recommend Blitzkrieg, though it has no base building and can become ridicilously difficult.
Guess will skip this one than, hard games aren't my cup of tea

avatar
Huinehtar: I'd recommend Cossacks and American Conquest, except battles are bigger (lots of units!) and less "Ages" (but there are many techs though).

IMHO, the Cossacks-American Conquest series are the best spiritual sequel of the Ages of Empire series, with Empire Earth (but in a different way, since EE isn't focused on eras).
avatar
tokisto: The next to it is Cossacks, which have a focus on battle management instead of economic one.
avatar
Soccorro: wooops forgot that one. and AMERICAN CONQUEST! Don't forget to have a high food income or everyone will die.
Interesting, and how's the difficulty of both games?

And regarding Etherlors, they're hard games or not?

AttObl: I recommend Silent Storm, IL-2 Sturmovik: 1946 (If you like flight sims), and Soldiers: Heroes of World War II.

I got Silent Storm and King’s Bounty: Crossworlds GOTY already, and I'm planning to get Soldiers: Heroes of World War II and Blitzkrieg Anthology. Any other games that are good? I'm more of a strategy gamer.
Cossacs and American Conquest are brilliant.. Perimeter has unusual fresh point of view on RTS genre and Fantasy Wars if you like TBS
How come GOG does not have the Warriors of the North expansion (to King's Bounty)?

I have my eye on the King's Bounty games if that wasn't obvious ;)

I just asked this above so forgive me but (and forgive the ambiguity of the question) is AC any more or less forgiving than Cossacks. I bought Cossacks years and years ago on disc and I loved it but man it almost killed me. I'm thinking the America setting might out do some of the frustration but every once in a while with Cossacks I'd find myself screaming, "Just give me a fucking chance you bastards!" :P
Excellent Weekend Promo! Thanks GOG! :)

Lol, yeah, well, did you try feeding your miners with farmers? War is hell, you cant discard anything, even canibalism :P

I dont remember having much issues with Am.Conq besides having a lot of fun with it, let me paste you one of the critics from its page here in Gog

"It's like a better Cossacks.
I like about this game:
- You can produce thousands of Units and still control each one individually.
- AI not as dum as in Cossacks, can be very hard
- more than 15 Nations each with unique gameplay aand individual sprites for everything, looks Awesome.
- The amount of Possibilitys is amazing, Stationate Units in Buildings, create work chains., use peasants to make soldiers
- Good Sounds and music.
- You can set the producton always to unlimited by ctrg+klick or shift + klick, to make production chains so you don't always have to manually create more units.
negatives:
- path finding in crowded areas is buggy, sometimes peasons at the mill just stop working because they can't walk"

The last path-finding issue I dont particularly remember having that problem, but it was a decade ago, so my memory ... dammit, more than a decade maybe, its already a decade from 2004, can you believe it?

you can choose a difficulty level in american conquest. and if you should need time to build a base, like i do. there is a peacetime option.
