King's Bounty Series, Il-2 Sturmovik, Blitzkrieg Series, Silent Storm S2, and other wargames 70% off!

War is, undeniably, a part of human nature. Or maybe even nature in general. Everywhere you look wars are being waged. Even in your own backyard you'll find ant colonies fighting each other in endless struggle for resources and living space. According to many theories war is the single most progressive force in human history. Whether we like it or not, the root of most technological, and even social advancement lie in the race for military strength. There is no wonder war fascinates us and holds a prominent place in our imagination. And--of course--all of that interest we take in it, is being expressed via computer games. Today, we invite you to join us for a [url=http://www.gog.com/promo/1c_gsc_nival_1c_online_weekend_promo_310114]Wargaming Weekend with 18 excellent strategy and tactics titles offered whole 70% off. Let's take a brief look at some of the games, shall we?

King's Bounty: The Legend and its continuation, King's Bounty: Crossworlds GOTY play a lot like a Heroes of Might & Magic game. But simply calling them clones would be unjust. Saying that they're "genetically enhanced clone"--as one of our users called it--would be much more fair. The gameplay is full of unique ideas and the high-fantasy setting of the game has a very distinctive feel to it. With many, many hours of gameplay, innumerable tasks to complete, giant world to explore, and a great variety of enemies to defeat, those gems of a strategic-RPG truly deserves your attention. Yours for $2.99 and $5.99 respectively.

Blitzkrieg Anthology and Blitzkrieg 2 Anthology are both extensive, realistic, and multifaceted strategy gems. Don't miss the opportunity to get yourself hours upon hours of excellent and challenging strategic gameplay that will test your skills as a military commander. Both games excel in portraying the reality of the World War II campaigns down to detailed unit specifics and equipment. You'll get a chance to recreate the most important battles that served as turning points of mankind's most terrifying conflict up to date. Once you finish all the engaging single-player scenarios, you can challenge your friends online or use the provided map editor to create your very own campaigns. They can be a part of your collection for only $2.99 each!

That's only a small part of our Wargaming Weekend promo. Head out to the promo page to be fully briefed on our offer and start planning the tactics on your approach. The offer lasts until Tuesday, February 4, at 4:59AM GMT. Over and out!

Niggles:
I finished rhetoric UFO series over the last week. Honestly I loved all of them, but each one is a very different game. The first could get a little repetitive after a difficulty spike.
OK scratch that they're all tough.
Everyone usually prefers Aftershock, but I ended up preferring Afterlight. It was just something about the juggling act (moreso than the other two) that just kind of grew on me after awhile.
How is Heroes of Annihilated Empires? Can anyone encourage or discourage a purchase on Heroes of Annihilated Empires?

tburger: Already own everyting I won so to make this weekend meaningful - I'll buy Deadlock bundle. Go Tommo!
I used to play Deadlock. It's a good game. I never play Deadlock 2, though. Both games are in my wish list now. :)
Woop, KB:AP (well, Crossworlds GOTY) at $6! Granted, it was $5 during the Insomnia sale, but they hadn't introduced PSC then so I couldn't yet buy anything at the time and was waiting for it to be under $10 again (which is the most I'd pay for a digital version of ANY game over 3 years old, period). The full price of this is quite ridiculous, so good thing there are these high-discount sales (though I did notice the full price was reduced to $20, which is still ridiculous but at least 20% less so than it was).

Edit: Ew, conversion fee worked out at 8.8% this time, was 8.5 before. *grumbles at greedy PSC* Still, finally have a way to make purchases on here, so it is what it is...

Buenro-games: Huh? The UFO franchise was here in GOG? Have to investigate that further, those games were awesome. I wonder if these are clones? hmmmm....
Nope, but those are the recent sequels, made by a different team than Enemy Unknown and Terror from the Deep, the first two games. Many fans of the original games (including me) find those worse then the originals. Not that they are bad per se, it's just that the original ones were unforgettable masterpieces and the sequels aren't.
I see Silent Storm is in the sale! It's on my wishlist, that's so cool.
In a short period of time i was able to buy Wizardry 6+7, Gothic II Gold and Gothic III, and now this one. My wishlist finally gets cleaned up a little bit!

Strijkbout: I'm still hoping Star Wolves 2+3 will be released here.
I agree!

phaolo: Which one do you suggest, Etherlords 1 or 2 ? [..]
avatar
Ghorpm: I prefer the second but I wrote about differences here: http://www.gog.com/forum/general/promo_wargaming_weekend/post6
Thank you Ghorpm, I'll try Etherlords 2 :)
Interesting, as a strategy lover, I would have expected to have at least one of these games...
Probably shouldn't buy them, considering I still have a few GOG games I never played from the big Christmas/New Year's sale.
Almost tempted to get them all! But must show some restraint... maybe only the four on my wishlist.
Is anyone else wondering what does the "1C + GSC + NIVAL + 1C" code mean? In the Checkout it says that weird code instead of "Wargaming Weekend." Is that normal?

Presumably those the publishers of all these games.

Picked up American Conquest, probably won't play it for another year or so, but at least I have it :D

Marci87: From this promo I'll get Cossacs only.
I already have the Kings Bounty Gold Edition UFO and Fantasy Wars on other site ;)

Or do you have anything to recommend?
avatar
Pabluzcu: You are getting Cossacs and not getting American Conquest?
You have it already? You know it right?

Cause if you dont know it, it´s like a somehow-better-gameplay Cossacs, set in a "conquest of the new world" enviroment, if you like Cossacs then American Conquest is a must-buy, for the price there

(sorry if you know all this, just curious you buy Cossacs and not Am.Conqu., which for me it was a better game, I enjoyed both but liked the second a bit more)
never heard of American Conquest so I'll have to look into that ;)
Thx for recommendation.
Only RTS games left for me and i don't play them....another week without purchase (OK, Silent Service but nothing else).

Dawnreader: Star Wolves is great solid RPG\Tactical RTS mix and Fantasy Wars is fascinating too if you like tactical battles. HoAE is a bit specific on my taste
avatar
JaqFrost: I do like tactical battles, thank you! =) In what way is HoAE specific, if you don't mind my asking...?
It looks line the budget variant of Spellforce.. Idea was not bad but realization isn't great. It is based on books of Ukrainian writer and story starts pretty well, but boring at the end and stories itself are full of clishe and linear. Graphics is average, catapults = imba, but there is some really good things like a ice giant will be melting in desert..some kind of basic terramorphing like in Stracraft - landscape would change around the settlement, it depends on what race has control on it..So the authors thinks about trilogy, but we have what we have..Choice is yours..

Bought all my wishlisted games, the discount is just too good! American Conquest, Cossacks Anthology, Heroes of Annihilated Empires, Perimeter, Soldiers: Heroes of World War II and S2: Silent Storm. Poor wallet once again. ;)
