In wilderness' loving embrace.

Banished, a medieval village sim full of tranquility that evens out the many hardships of an exile's life in the lush and beautiful, but also harsh and unforgiving realm they've been cast into, is available for $19.99 on GOG.com.

We are the banished ones. Cast away from our homeland, exiled by our own brethren. But the woods are bountiful, the river is full of fish, and there's still months before the winter comes. We will toil and we will moil, from the sweat of our brows a village will rise. We will cut trees to make room for roads and houses, we will quarry stone to build walls, we cultivate the land and hunt the woods to fill our granaries, and we will survive. We must. An outcast is an outcast as long as they don't have a place to call home. A home we shall build then, my friends. Here, in the wilderness no one ever braved. It's either that, or the cold breath of winter and the death it brings. Tomorrow, starts another chapter in our story of hardship. For now, we should rest, and marvel at this beautiful day. This has been a long journey.

Banished is a free-form village sim firmly placed in a medieval setting with every possible calamity that comes with it. You will lead a small group of refugees, exiled from their home kingdom only with the clothes on their back and a small cart of supplies. Now, they need to rip a piece of land from the wilderness and make it their home, where they will live, love, have children, and finally die (let their death be peaceful!). You'll need to keep the population happy and healthy by providing them with food and warm shelter. Watch the town grow as you assign 20 different jobs to build buildings, grow food, craft tools and clothing, and more!

Heed our warning: this is not a city-builder you may be expecting. This is a game of survival where death and despair comes uninvited into the tranquility of your settlement just when you least expect it. We challenge you to lead the Banished, for only $19.99 on GOG.com.

JudasIscariot: It was an implied "I'm" kind of like the implied "you" :P

JinseiNGC224: Oh, haha. Silly me!
Yeah that's it, sorry for the confusion.
If I hadn't wanted it from what I've seen before, I'd want it solely because of the box art of snow-covered houses. Please include a high-res wallpaper of that scene.

Edit: Oh, it's this screenshot from the gamecard, I do prefer the blue tone on he cover though.

I'll buy this as soon as I get home... damn, no less than 4 hours left until I get to go home.

a medieval village sim
I'm sold.
Though since I'm quite bad at not buying things I'm kind of short in this month. So wishlisted for now. But don't worry game. I will get you and I will play the shit out of you.
Looks great, but I will wait for some reviews before I (eventually) buy it.

Wishlisted for now.
I wonder if it is more like Settlers/Knights of Merchants or more like Anno XXXX series?
I think I will buy this when there's a 80% sale off.
, the hands-on previews have been overwhelmingly positive thus far, making me eager to give Banished a try.<div class="quot quot_text normal_color "><div class="small_avatar_2_h"><img src="/upload/avatars/2012/12/4434dbbb5cdcd5439cef2229c0ae2325bac14787_t.jpg" width="16" height="16" alt="avatar" /></div><span class="quot_text"><span class="quot_user_name">Novotnus: </span></span>Seen the village... and my heart bumped for Beasts and Bumpkins :) <a href="http://www.gog.com/forum/general_archive/release_banished/post5" class="link_arrow"></a></div> What I remember about B&amp;B is that its deceptively gloomy, dramatic [url=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l_jEdrUIBFs]intro was in stark contrast to the overall tone of the game.

Think more "Survive" and not so much " Build a Utopia".
I'ts not like any much at all. there is very limited trading and no "tech" upgrades.

I really dont have a simgame to compare this with as most of the big ones (anno/simcity) are all about building a economic utopia, and this is all about "please god dont let fire hit me in the winter after a bad harvest"
in an age where really huge teams make games, IMHO I think it's awesome to see what one person can do & it looks like an interesting game.

this one will be bought today

I figure this would help some understand the game

Ghorpm: I think I'll get it eventually but I don't feel like playing it right now so I'll wait to see some reviews.

JaqFrost: Have a look at Quill18's let's play for it. You should be able to judge whether it's something you're into from that.
Thanks, that's probably a good idea :) But still I don't think I'll play this game in foreseeable future so I'll wait anyway ;)

I'm actually hoping it to be more like UnReal World on a settlement scale.

Played only the demo, long time ago.
Yes, it's one of the most cheerful RTS games ever :)
Nice one, we're about to hit 700 games on GOG, keep 'em coming! o/
Looks pretty and might be original. The premise reminds me slightly of King of Dragon Pass.
