In wilderness' loving embrace.

Banished, a medieval village sim full of tranquility that evens out the many hardships of an exile's life in the lush and beautiful, but also harsh and unforgiving realm they've been cast into, is available for $19.99 on GOG.com.

We are the banished ones. Cast away from our homeland, exiled by our own brethren. But the woods are bountiful, the river is full of fish, and there's still months before the winter comes. We will toil and we will moil, from the sweat of our brows a village will rise. We will cut trees to make room for roads and houses, we will quarry stone to build walls, we cultivate the land and hunt the woods to fill our granaries, and we will survive. We must. An outcast is an outcast as long as they don't have a place to call home. A home we shall build then, my friends. Here, in the wilderness no one ever braved. It's either that, or the cold breath of winter and the death it brings. Tomorrow, starts another chapter in our story of hardship. For now, we should rest, and marvel at this beautiful day. This has been a long journey.

Banished is a free-form village sim firmly placed in a medieval setting with every possible calamity that comes with it. You will lead a small group of refugees, exiled from their home kingdom only with the clothes on their back and a small cart of supplies. Now, they need to rip a piece of land from the wilderness and make it their home, where they will live, love, have children, and finally die (let their death be peaceful!). You'll need to keep the population happy and healthy by providing them with food and warm shelter. Watch the town grow as you assign 20 different jobs to build buildings, grow food, craft tools and clothing, and more!

Heed our warning: this is not a city-builder you may be expecting. This is a game of survival where death and despair comes uninvited into the tranquility of your settlement just when you least expect it. We challenge you to lead the Banished, for only $19.99 on GOG.com.
Hopefully an epic release! Can't wait to get around to playing it.
Beenwaiting for this game for some time. Bought it, playing it now, loving it.

Then again I am a sucker for city building games.

Let me rephrase that *GOOD* city building games. There have been to few these days.

triock: Geez, how many TB links we need in one thread? :p
Hmm, I did a Ctrl-F for "total" and "TB", but didn't get a hit - must have mistyped or something. Anyway, removed my link.
If anyone is wondering the optimazation, since "it'll run on old hardware" is rather vague - 7600GT gets the job done.

Nah, it's okay, it was meant as a joke. ;)

Heh no worries, I knew you were joking :). But I do think that having multiple links to the same video in the thread is probably unnecessary. At least we can try to find other youtubers besides TB and spread the love. :p
wow there is some guy moaning over at steam that he didnt get a steam key with his gog purchase, i beg of you GOG refuse this guy a refund!

zeffyr: How about extras? No soundtack? No goodies? Any plans for that?
This little gem was done from bottom to the very top by single (no, it is NOT a misprint: SINGLE, like, you know "one") person. Taking this into consideration I'll say that amount of work and/or content included in this game right now is pretty amazing...
Yes, it will be nice to have some extras with this, but there's a limit of what one person can do (and still being sane and have some life:) )
Two nice looking releases today

And adding it to his library as a non-Steam game was too difficult? I suppose he needs it to download from the Steam servers as well...
Has anybody given this a good play yet? Interested in it but don't want to shell out if it's a POS.

There are some very thorough Let's Play videos on YouTube that will give you a good idea of the game. I recommend Quill18's videos, there are a lot of them.

Well, 43 people have already rated it and it's nearly 5 stars. That's something for sure, seeing it just came here today and barely 6 hours ago. Some others seem really excited about it as well and it doesn't look bad at all through the videos.

Check out an Arumba Let's Play (or more than one) if your still not sure: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5vglRqqyghg

I'll have to check this out in the future. No cash in my video games budget for a couple months.

Fictionvision: Another overview of the game from TB: WTF is Banished.

At first the name Banished made me think it was another zombie survival game for some reason. I was glad to see I was wrong after watching a video about it.

Nice looking game. I'll keep an eye out for it to get later on.
Funny thing mentioning this because the original dev idea was a zombie themed game. I´ve been following the game development about some time and I´m amazed to see it on GOG. I´m a fan of city builders and this one has a different tone from the genre, but my laptop can´t rig the game nor I have the money now.
