In wilderness' loving embrace.

Banished, a medieval village sim full of tranquility that evens out the many hardships of an exile's life in the lush and beautiful, but also harsh and unforgiving realm they've been cast into, is available for $19.99 on GOG.com.

We are the banished ones. Cast away from our homeland, exiled by our own brethren. But the woods are bountiful, the river is full of fish, and there's still months before the winter comes. We will toil and we will moil, from the sweat of our brows a village will rise. We will cut trees to make room for roads and houses, we will quarry stone to build walls, we cultivate the land and hunt the woods to fill our granaries, and we will survive. We must. An outcast is an outcast as long as they don't have a place to call home. A home we shall build then, my friends. Here, in the wilderness no one ever braved. It's either that, or the cold breath of winter and the death it brings. Tomorrow, starts another chapter in our story of hardship. For now, we should rest, and marvel at this beautiful day. This has been a long journey.

Banished is a free-form village sim firmly placed in a medieval setting with every possible calamity that comes with it. You will lead a small group of refugees, exiled from their home kingdom only with the clothes on their back and a small cart of supplies. Now, they need to rip a piece of land from the wilderness and make it their home, where they will live, love, have children, and finally die (let their death be peaceful!). You'll need to keep the population happy and healthy by providing them with food and warm shelter. Watch the town grow as you assign 20 different jobs to build buildings, grow food, craft tools and clothing, and more!

Heed our warning: this is not a city-builder you may be expecting. This is a game of survival where death and despair comes uninvited into the tranquility of your settlement just when you least expect it. We challenge you to lead the Banished, for only $19.99 on GOG.com.
Definitely getting this one, but wishlisted for now.

This almost seems to be a cross between SimCity (probably Tropico would be a better one to use) and Don't Starve.

Nuts!

So naturally I gotta have it!
Wishlisting this. It seems interesting but I'll wait for more feedback before I look further at it.

fishbaits: First attempt at Banished.
Winter has arrived, everyone is dead.
R.I.P.
Ooh, I heard a tree fall, they DO make a sound!
You do realize that since everyone was dead, you have solved an ancient zen mistery?

Mivas: The YouTube video looks very tempting. I always wanted to play/watch something slow-paced farm/economic sim without these fighting scenarios everywhere.
Well if I remember correctly the first Stronghold has two campaigns: a military and a purely economic one (but you must manage your economy on the military campaign as well).

Unfortunately, I was too busy killing enemy soldiers to have the slightest idea if the economic campaign is any good.

Yes, I`m considering writing a paper up about the event & seeing if the MacArthur bunch will give me a grant now ;)
Awesome to see this game released on GOG!!! Don't have the money right now, but definitely will pick this one up in one of the following weeks.
Been playing around and I must say I'm impressed. Not got a big urban area together yet but its fun. This is one of those games that has a good dose of what I'd call charm. It's fun and entertaining to play and just watch your little settlement grow. Designing your town is fairly detailed for a game made by a single person.

If you like the idea of building your own medieval town and growing it up from its roots then this is the game for you. It's an entertaining city builder with a neat twist.

More than worth its cost - and pretty amazing work for a single programmer - I hope it does well and that he might get a chance to expand on the content. Would be great to see the title grow from its already great beginnings.

JudasIscariot: That too :) I am afraid of firing up the game right now because it's late and I have to go to work in the morning :D
What? You mean to say that you're currently not at work, yet still up and fooling around?
Bad Judas! :-P
Played a bit now, lost some villagers after the second winter by lack of food and I'm always having trouble to mantain a good stock of wood for the constructions and firewood, but I'm having fun with this game

Food is a nightmare, esp because you've got to play a little above what you have. It's very easy to have a nice stock of food coming in then suddenly a few more house and you've got starvation. Having a surplus is good though as that gives you trading material which you'll want for things you can only ship in.

Wood can be a nightmare, but put down a few wood-cutting and planting structures. The other part is balancing the desire to expand with the supply. Let hte firewood build up and then get a bit of a stock of logs before throwing down new structures - whilst remembering that as soon as you've structures in need of logs your log inventory won't restore.
Please somebody tell me that this game is just bad and broken and sucks and its more fun to have vasectomy than play it?
Pretty please
I was doing so well.... but I caved.

By FAR The most expensive game I have bought here, but I wanted to reward the developer for his efforts, and couldn't stand waiting until it's on sale at some point in the distant future either. Besides, when I forked out 50 dollars for Timber and Stone, 20 for a probably better game is well worth it. Right? :D

well i forked out 40 bucks on three dlc for ME3. I guess 20 bucks for this game would be a better deal.
Very interested. Wishlisted!
