Alone in the strange world of Pagan, the Avatar has to bring the battle to the Guradian.

Ultima™ 8 Gold Edition, the last 2D cRPG in the famous Ultima series, is available now for only $5.99.

Ultima 8 featured “a closer blend of fantasy and reality than ever before--real-world physics and game play” (that’s from the game box!) including platform running at several speeds, jumping unto stepping stones and transverse cliffs, walking on ledges etc. Also, Avatar is left alone, without any RPG companions, and that makes the game extremely difficult, while most of the enemies are both extremely hard to kill and extremely deadly. The graphics are flat-out gorgeous in their retro glory, and the well-detailed fluid animations hold up greatly even today after 18 years from release. The combat is a real change from the usual Ultima fare, with great fluidity, and tons of actiony goodness that make this game a great entry title into the series for fans of more action-centric RPGs.

Great graphics, sound, storyline, and special effects are what’s good about Ultima 8, and what’s best is that it’s available right now only on GOG.com for $5.99.
Never actually played an Ultima game before (the perspective always irritated me). But I still wishlisted all of them and will try em out once I'm done with the games from my childhood :). Hope they're worth the bucks though.
Awesome release!

This is probably the game I wanted the most.

I know a lot of people prefer U7, but this was the first RPG I played (with the exception of a couple of rpgish games on the Amiga).
Never played it.. need to beat VII first I guess.
I've always liked Pagan even thought it's one of the most criticized Ultimas. I think thanks to that comes from that I've never played the original Ultima 8, which had notarisouly horrible jumping controls caused frustrations.
Please tell me the jumping has been fixed.
Bonus Contents download links are messed up - Chronicle of Wossname points to the map. Might be more, too busy right now to check :)
Wonderful addition - thanks GOG!
YES! YES! YES!!! AND WITH SPEECH PACK TOO! OMG! I'm so happy now!!! I played this when it was new and loved it!

It's a damn shame I am broke. This would be an INSTABUY! Well it will be bought first thing next month that is for sure!

THANK YOU GOG!

Now, can we have Ultima IX too to complete the set? Oh, please, please? :-)

I was given this game when it first came out. I loved Ultima 7, but could never get into this one. I just didn't like being moved from Brittania to some other strange world... maybe i should give it another try.

It wouldn't be a complete set without Akalabeth and Worlds of Ultima.

Yes it's patched, but not that it makes it a good game.
Wishlist +1
Not completely interested in this release as I have lots of game to play before even starting Ultima VII but I wanted to stop and say thank you to GOG & EA for something that seems to be a good release with decent bonus content.
It is an important release, but I'm no fan of jump and runs.

Ah, hell with it 6$, instabuy.

Let's show GOG they can earn more money with oldgames!

You have a point there. I was forgetting Worlds of Ultima which I'd love to see as well. However, I would love to see Ultima IX more if I was able to choose among them. As for Akalabeth, I can live without that one but agree for completeness sake, that's a part of the history.
