Alone in the strange world of Pagan, the Avatar has to bring the battle to the Guradian.

Ultima™ 8 Gold Edition, the last 2D cRPG in the famous Ultima series, is available now for only $5.99.

Ultima 8 featured “a closer blend of fantasy and reality than ever before--real-world physics and game play” (that’s from the game box!) including platform running at several speeds, jumping unto stepping stones and transverse cliffs, walking on ledges etc. Also, Avatar is left alone, without any RPG companions, and that makes the game extremely difficult, while most of the enemies are both extremely hard to kill and extremely deadly. The graphics are flat-out gorgeous in their retro glory, and the well-detailed fluid animations hold up greatly even today after 18 years from release. The combat is a real change from the usual Ultima fare, with great fluidity, and tons of actiony goodness that make this game a great entry title into the series for fans of more action-centric RPGs.

Great graphics, sound, storyline, and special effects are what’s good about Ultima 8, and what’s best is that it’s available right now only on GOG.com for $5.99.

gibbeynator: Please tell me the jumping has been fixed.

DodoGeo: Yes it's patched, but not that it makes it a good game.
Yeah, I'm fully aware of the larger problems, mostly the whole "EA mandate forced Origin to launch this as a 25% finished monstrosity of a game" thing.
Damn I love you GOG, I will never finish my backlog and somehow this doesn't bother me
Nice.
Nice release, I will wait to get this until after I beat VII.

Gaunathor: Great release, but there is something off with the bonus content.

When downloading the Cluebook, the Chronicle gets downloaded instead, and when downloading the Chronicle, the Map gets re-downloaded.
I"ll pass that along to Product. Thanks. :)

Already told them... it's fixed now. :)
Yay! As a child, this was one of my favourite games.
Another 1 to add to my wishlist which will be getting big soon i think with all these good releases.
I have to say you guys at GOG have really surpassed my expectations lately. I thought that after you start selling indie games (even though awesome ones) and newer releases, oldie releases would become a bit more rare. But in the past few weeks you've kept up the two oldies a week. And not only that but really good ones too!

Respect!
:o

+1 wishlist!

One of my favorite games, and I played it a lot in the past.
It would be awesome if someone at EA dug up the expansion as well. It wasn't released, but it was finished.
awesome release! just like WC4 this is the kind of game i'll pick up at full price instead of waiting for a discount.
I was just noticing the minimum system requirements specify Windows XP or Windows Vista but there is no mention of Windows 7? Was this an oversight perhaps? I hope so.
If you haven't played it before you might want to check out this review before you play:

Hell, you might want to check that out even if you have played the game.
