They use to have this thing called "Quick Save". How I miss it.

Golly, JMich...I have been everywhere and the only thing I have left re GOG is the GOG downloader file with the green/black icon showing it is ready to install. Yes, I used my Win + r and typed in everything every which way and wasn't able to find anything else in all my programs and files.
Altho, my Windows just finished installing my Deus Ex GOTY.
Well, I am mighty glad to hear that...meaning I've tried to use it in some of my games with no results, sooooo back to the checkpoint I go.

If instead of %localappdata% you type %appdata%, does it find a folder? If yes, it should be in the AppData\Roaming, so going one folder up should show you the local one. The AppData folder is a hidden one in your user directory, so you need to enable showing hidden folders to view it. But the %localappdata% variable should take you there immediately.

Either way, seems like you did get a game installed, so you can play something now. But I do find it weird, and would like to have a resolution for that problem, and so would you I guess ;)

What game lets you quick save and doesn't save the game? That is pretty screwy... or you're doing something wrong.

Yes, thank you very, very much JMich for all your help. My Win 8 is easy to get around. I use Win+r and can actually type in anything and the same things will come up. I found more by using my Control Panel and then programs, which brings up every program I have with access to all the files. It's a lot different than the Win-7 I had.
I sent GOG support screenshots of my entire system, but they emailed me with suggestions for Win7 and XP which didn't work. So I'll re-do all that for them.
Another weird thing; it took less time to d/l with Windows than it did with GOG d/l-er. Took an hour 'n' half, but GOG took 2 days. As to playing, I'm at the Command Deck in Bioshock Infinite, loving Metro 2033 and also playing Tomb Raider.

%localappdata% should still be the same though. Will have to see if I can borrow a Win8 machine and verify it, but still weird.

The downloader should be using normal download method, though one per concurrent connection, which can lead to a congested line. Having only one concurrent connection should give the same speed as downloading through the browser, but it is possible your security suite is blocking it somehow. I would suggest checking if you can whitelist the downloader in your firewall/antivirus, but no use until you can remove Pathologic from the queue.

That's a good idea. I'll look into that. As I mentioned earlier, I bought this gaming rig last month. I had an extra cooler put in, more power, best graphics driver. It's a desktop/tower. Works wonders with my games, but I can't d/l GOG games. I just now re-installed GOG's d/l-er. So we'll see. I played Pathologic and was actually in the middle of it. But when I uninstalled it, I also un-installed the Save files.

I guess I worded that rather confusingly. Not all games, as you know, use quick-save, but I tried it with Tomb Raider just to see (I didn't know if it did or not) and it doesn't. So I needed to use checkpoint. :)

Ah ok thats fair enough. Which tomb raider is this? the original has quick save, im not sure about the new ones.
