We know our little game with closing down the site made some of you angry. Once again we'd like to apologize to everyone who felt deceived by us closing down GOG.com without any warning and without giving you access to your games. We apologize for that from the bottom of our hearts, it was done with the best of intentions and hopefully we can make it up to you!
That being said we'd like to introduce to you the brand new GOG.com. After two years we're finally leaving the beta stage and moving forward to provide you even better service with your favorite PC classics. Leaving beta means lots of changes to the site itself, as well. A sleek new design makes it even easier to browse through the huge catalog, share one's passion for classic games via popular social media, get to know more about the classic games available and recommend favorite titles to other gamers. Among other changes, the team has introduced GOGmixes, which are, in short, user-created lists of games around one theme. Learn more about all the new features on GOG.com overview page.
But that's not all. What anniversary would it be without some neat presents? We're celebrating the second anniversary with one of the biggest announcements ever for fans of classic PC games - we're reviving Baldur’s Gate and other classic Hasbro-Licensed PC games which will be unveiled gradually in the coming weeks!

I'll surely won't forget for ages the moment I saw that two monks! LOL!

Welcome back, GoG!

(or should it be "Welcome still"?) :)
@ GOG

Thanks for the "reborn" & Welcome back ~!~

I joined 518 days ago as today the new GOG.com comes LIVE (Pretty Laggy ATM).

This is kinda the biggest marketing joke ever but... appreciate the hard work.

I've been supportin' GOG for long & owned over approx. 150 games here :)

Now buyin' the B's Gate, hope more "Great Old Games" are comin' fast ~!~

*Good Old Games < Great Old Games :P

Best of Luck,

F-F
Oh, and the links in the post are fucked. http://gamecard/baldurs_gate? Nah.

Come now, it wasn't that bad. Besides, I don't remember clearly, but there was some competition on GOG for coming up with crazy marketing ideas. Not like this was one of those (they were of a different type), but we can see very clearly, that the Good (Not so) Old Guys at GOG are a daring bunch and they certainly come up and realize crazy ideas. Like no DRM? Ridicolously low prices? Such stuff. Well this was a crazy idea, and look how many people got interested.
There is no such thing as bad media. What people talk about, people check out, and when they find GOG, they will possibly decide that the several crazy things which are good for us custumers outweight this one little prank (let's be serious, it was about half week long, and barely included one weekend day, so most customers probably didn't have the time to play much anyway.
I say this was a funny little prank, and if Baldur's Gate really is just the first in a row of similar legends, then soon all of us will remember the "End of GOG" with a big smile, if not laughter.

(No I wasn't payed, this is my honest opinion.)

It is great to have you guys back!
I hope they haven't decided to abolish the RSS feed. Its last known address http://www.gog.com/en/frontpage/rss is now redirecting to the GOG homepage.

Amen!

One new release, NO promo codes and a laggy(optimized code! HA!) new website! What a HUGE disappointment!!!

Seconded.

DrIstvaan: I'll keep away from the "marketing yay/nay" discussion, so I'll just say...
It's good to be back here.
This.
Good to have you back!
Noticed one little bug: The amount of replies to a new news post isn't progressing over to the main page. Old posts have the number of replies neatly in brackets behind the title, new posts do not even though there's tons of replies :P

Yeah, count me in. I was expecting AT LEAST three good new games after a stunt like this. Personally I've never been much of a fan of Baldur's Gate (I don't like controlling more than one character in RPGs), so I've waited for absolutely nothing. Disappointing.
Welcome back. Now, get back to work on Thunderscape. :p
Welcome back, GOG, last days were sad without you. First, when I saw what happened to your (our) website I was very sad. But soon I understood it was just Bareja-movie style joke :-) Anyway, nice to have you back. And I just grabbed Baldurs Gate, hope we do not have to wait too long for Eye of the Beholder saga.
I loved the humor, the monk videos, and the excellent new site design :D Welcome back, GoG! May you bring the joy of old games for a long time to come.
