thebum06: This media center thing, what exactly is it?

wodmarach: it's a key to add windows media centre and a bunch of codecs to windows, it's handy if you have an xbox and want to stream stuff from your pc to it
Ah, so it works with the xbox then. I never quite could figure out what it did that media player didn't already do.

It also gives a full-screen media interface, nicely usable with a remote control from the sofa, rather than relying on detailed movement of the mouse and/or a full keyboard. And (not sure about 8, but at least earlier) it contains functionality for watching and recording broadcast TV and radio (given that you have the necessary hardware) - again, from the same remote-optimised interface rather than relying on the hardware-bundled application that likely requires a mouse and keyboard.

yeah thats all still there :)
Finally back on my own pc and I missed Win 8 terribad while using Vista.
After a number of programs not functioning correctly (hard locking my system, etc) I switched back to 7 with a Vista partition for my GOG's.

I'm waiting for a service pack before I go back to 8, worst case is I blew $15. That's a movie and snacks at the theater, so it's not so bad.
