Porkdish: Biggest issue raised... what kind of choice was China vs USA when the reward is 200 credits against 4 scientists? I really hope the decisions aren't one level deep.
200 credits are about 1 month worth of money. 4 Scientists is (again) about 1 month worth of scientists. So far, it seems that both scientists and engineers are used up (when building some rooms for example), in the effect that they "staff" that room. More or less, the rewards are equivalent, so you do get the choice of going after the resource you want/need more, or going after the country with the highest panic level.
No idea so far about multiple step rewards, but so far the mission choosing does seem to be interesting to say the least.

What? 200 credits are month worth of money?! I didn't know X-COM is such low-budget organisation. :-p
I want my millions!

I am gonna try the modified version today to see if it improves my opinion, but it won't certainly change my UI problems and similiar stuff.

Assume that each credit is worth 10^9 units of currency, everything is right with the world again :P

P.S. what UI problems would that be, since I didn't have that much trouble with it (not that I played that much). And also, in the 2k forums there is a hotkey list that may (or may not) help, or you could always try with a controller.

cw8: Played the demo, not really persuaded by it. Are there going to be more fire modes like in the original, aimed, burst etc?
It looks like all soldiers get a basic shooting skill, and special fire modes will depend on perks and abilities unlocked.
What's engineering for, do we get to manufacture our own weapons and armour?
Of course yes.
Will there be a market to buy and sell stuff like in the original?
Yes.
I noticed when I promoted the soldier in the demo, he automatically gets a rocket launcher, tell me that that is a demo thingy, will the actual game require you to equip all the soldiers by yourself provided you have the weapon in the first place?
Rocket launcher is a skill for heavy weapon specialist unlocked by leveling up, it's not for everyone. The gear and equipment should have some degree of customization, but I bet most of it will have class restrictions.

JMich: Well, an editor for the demo is...
Cool, but...I don't know if I want to know too much for now. :) But it's very promissing that an editor appeared so fast.
