stoicsentry: OOC: Awesome! Did you want this to count as your action for the turn? If so, I'll roll for an effect.

Otherwise, feel free to move or look around, use a specific skill/etc.

Runehamster: OOC: Absolutely, that's his action! He's a cleric, and even if he's a novice in battle he's clearly been a cleric for some time. I would think that for a cleric asking his deity for help in a venture could only help! xD
OOC: Gotcha. I loved it! I just didn't know if you were looking for a specific type of effect. (If you are looking for one effect in particular, just let me know.)

Remaining turns to complete round 1:
Exile - move 2 or act
Rohan - move 5 or act

Father Le'Minz has invoked divine favor. The path to the south is suddenly illuminated with a bright white light. You can now see clearly to the door, and realize that there are no enemies in front of the door. Though there are still crates and cobwebs surrounding the door, you should be able to bypass them easily.

Alternatively, the path to the east is still clear as well - lit by torches along the north wall.

OOC: Heh, I'm glad. I'm used to freeform roleplaying, so I'm glad you're a creative and flexible DM. I do love the results, though, thanks!

OOC: Apparently your deity takes the word "light" literally. :D

Edit: what the heck is with GOG's forum software? It's wacky lately.

Anyway, I was just saying, I'm perfectly happy to account for your more "freeform" style of playing, and if others want to be more strict (citing specific skills each time they post), then that's perfectly fine as well. There's room for both.

Exile - move 2 or act
Rohan - move 5 or act

Arkades casts an eye upwards, doffing an imaginary cap. "Thank you. A bit literal, perhaps, but Your help is always appreciated." Turning to his companions, he drums his fingers on the head of his cane. "I think that might be a hint."
I would like to use my improved vision and hearing to take a closer gander at the southern door that has been lit up. (I can do that instead of moving, right?)

OOC: Yup.

There are tiny cockroaches creeping around on the floor near the southern door, but other than that, there are no signs of any danger awaiting you in this direction. You see a large lock on the door, but that should be no problem for you. You also spot a hint of silver in one of the crates. (the SW quadrant of the large square north of the door.)

Remaining turns for round 1:
Exile - move 2 spots or take an action.

Silver eh? :D
OOC update: Kemuel is a late addition to the contest. This change has been approved by the guild and the Ringmaster due to unique circumstances. The rules and rewards remain the same (provision has been made for a 4th prize, if needed.) He will be the final addition to your party.

Round 1 turns remaining
Exile - may move 2 (small) spaces or act

Exile took two steps towards the south
Exile took two steps south. As he began to approach the southern door, he could see the silver shining out of the crate that Rohan was describing.

[OOC: Vasar has +perception].

It appears to be the top edge of a circular object... perhaps a shield?

[OOC: Map is being updated as we speak and should be by the time you see this post. See page 1 for updated map.]

OOC: We'll let Kemuel begin in round 2, he arrives just a tad later than the rest of you.

Round 2 has begun.

Round 2 turns

arkades = move 2 or act
exile = move 3 or act
rohan = move 4 or act
kemuel = move 3 or act

Kemuel came running through the entrance way, eager to catch up to his fellows and once again stand by their side in battle.

His agility and grace of movement hinted at a lifetime of training and his military background.

"Gentlemen!! Good to be amongst you again! And Father, it's a pleasure to meet you."

He grasped the handle of his Longsword and felt it's familiar strength and poise coursing through it. Encouraged, Kemuel advanced two squares south and one west.
Arkades lifted a hand in greeting as Kemuel sped past. "And a pleasure to meet you, my son! I take it you are Kemuel, then?" Arkades thumbed through the book at his side, letting it fall open to a well-worn page. Placing his hand on the words, he closed his eyes and murmured under his breath until light began to pour from the pages. The holy illumination sparkled in the crystal lenses perched on his beaked nose as he raised his hand and evoked a mystical sign in Kemuel's direction. "May the Light guide your hand, Kemuel."

Letting the book swing back to his side, he stabbed at his glasses with his free hand, pushing them back onto his nose. "And for the Light's sake, watch out! This seems far too easy, and the Light has told me nothing of what to expect." Arkades ran his fingers back through his tousled mop of graying hair, grinning at Kemuel's advancing back. "I should have started adventuring decades ago..."

Kemuel has moved south, south, west. OOC: Map has been updated on post 1.

Kemuel's arms began to glow for a moment. The light encapsulated his body. He has been blessed with increased strength.

OOC: The effect was more powerful than usual, this blessing should last a long time. This effect will be noted on post 3 of page 1 on this thread, for your convenience. (At the bottom of everyone's character sheet, there will be a section that says "status" - you can find this noted there.)

Registering the increase of his strength, Kemuel flexed his arms and tried to make sense of his newfound power.

Turning backwards, somewhat lost for words he said, "...! Father! This is... incredible! Truly, to be a friend of The Light is to wield a ferocious power. Your wisdom will be a wonderful asset to the Legion!"
Leaning on his cane, Arkades waved one hand in airy dismissal. "I'm quite fortunate, really. The Light works its own will, without caring much for my wisdom. You must have a good heart, my son, or the Light would not look quite so favorably upon you despite my most fervent urgings." Glancing at Rohan, Arkades peered over his spectacles. "Has something caught your eye, Rohan?"

The priest shrugged his shoulders, settling his pack more comfortably. The rattle of cooking gear was muffled by his thick blanket, and a few fragments of parchment fluttered to the floor as they dropped from the scrolls crammed loosely into the top of the pack. The bulky haft of a heavy club jutted from one corner of the knapsack, the wood dark with age and smooth from frequent use.
