jefequeso: I see Fallout 3 kinda like McDonalds.
What's there isn't very good, but it makes up for it in sheer quantity. Kind of.
StingingVelvet: Hahahaha... not sure about that analogy but it made me smile. Bethesda do VERY good exploration, and for me that's enough to buy and enjoy their games. I just wish they could get some new writers and system designers that could enrich the experience further.
Well, their exploration is good simply by virtue of the massive size of their worlds (Keep in mind, however, that I haven't played many Bethesda just Fallout 3 and Daggerfall titles--just Fallout 3 and Daggerfall--so I might not have any idea what I'm talking about. And I'm certainly a huge supporter of F3's atmosphere. I thought the DC Wasteland was beautifully rendered.
I mean, F3 has its charms... for me, it's just kinda ruined by its lack of real depth, despite the huge number of mechanics that should have lended it substance (the weapon repairing alone could have added an awesome survival mechanic, where you find yourself stranded out in the middle of nowhere with a nearly broken firearm, and are forced to scavange parts and/or new weapons. But no... the fast travel system ruined that. Same with drinking radioactive water.).
