Third crash in an hour. Not just crashes, complete system lock ups with no possibility of control paneling out. i had tried updating my drivers and doing some quick fixes I found. Didn't help.

The one hour I got to play during the tutorial was good. But it looks like never going to get past that.

Sorry KneeTheCap. But my not being able to get the game to run at all is a pretty strong indicator of the game's quality if nothing else. :/

Edit: Here's a person saying exactly the problem I'm having. Different specs, but it appears to be a pretty rare bug for certain machines. Haven't found a fix yet, there may not be one.

Edit 2: I may have fixed it. At least it didn't crash when I did that mission.

I disabled an extra sound device, and changed resolutions. It ran well for the last hour or so, so who knows.

This is why I'm not an IT person. These things baffle me.

Did you find and apply the patch? I didn't have any problems after that, I believe it simply consists of a fixed .exe, should be on their forums.

I can't explain it, but I played for quite a while yesterday and didn't have another crash after I donked around with resolution and my sound devices. Why that would fix anything is completely beyond me. I could have just been lucky.

GamersGate says they have it DRM Free.

All versions should be DRM free as the last patch removed the Uniloc DRM. I'm not sure if the Steam version can launch without Steam though, can't say I ever tried it. Fallout 3 does though.

How much did they fix the game, because at release it was terrible?

The repaired a few scripts, a couple of minor glitches... that's pretty much it. The changelog of the only patch the game got is quite short.

I'll get it nevertheless, but too bad they didn't keep at it.

I don't know if I'm just extremely lucky or what, but I have encountered a grand total of one bug in Alpha Protocol. So I don't really know what's supposed to be so terrible about it.

The only big bug I encountered was that first area would have the enemies not repopulate with loading a savegame. I believe they fixed that issue.

The mouse stuttering problem because the game was made to work with XBOX360 controllers is terrible but if you fix it, the game is awesome.

Awesome game. You'd be foolish not to pick it up for 2 dollars.
