Porkdish: Once authorised, if it times out accessing the internet you're golden. This obviously prevents you from sending your ego stats to your bioware vanity page, but meh. Working DLC without EA fucking you every time just for starting up your legally bought game is worth that terrible sacrifice.
The ego stats don't even work. It had my mage at level 2 until I was level 10 or so, I'm level 17 and the page still shows level 9 and my old, level 2 equipment. I've tried leaving it signed in while I played for a couple hours to see. It's broken so far as I can tell. And yes, DA:O was a perfect example of how to not do DLC. I haven't tried any newer Origins games with DLC, does Origins improve things?
MichaelFurlong: I rarely buy games anymore and this may just be the last legal game I buy (except though gog).
StingingVelvet: Buy them but use and backup the cracked version. That's what I do. No sense punishing developers and lowering our platform's market share to spurn some dumbass suits in a boardroom somewhere. "No point in boosting stats for a fucked platform, buy for a platform that works (console)."
I'm not saying which one is superior (yours, the examples I posted, or the million others people could present), but there's some counter arguments to yours that aren't entirely devoid of merit.
