I really hope the community doesn't become stupid.
i will support and buy games

Skystrider: I can do nothing but support this. Completely. :)

Edit:
As long as they also keep doing classics, of course. But it looks like they will, so all good! :D

Vagabond: My fear is they'll abandon the "classic games" niche in favor of the more profitable newer games.
Yeah, I'm quite worried about that. Also, I'm worried that it'll cause an influx of...well...the same sort of people that are currently living on the Steam forums :P

Can you imagine what the forum will look like as soon as it is injected with a surge of COD fanboys? May Gog have mercy on us all.

Yeah, that's what I'm really worried about. I basically just got here, I'd hate to see the forums devolve already.

Can you imagine the future of Steamgifts and GOG gifting thread?
Somebody hold me.
I'm scared... nah, I certainly don't know what to think about it. I'll curse this new approach the very first moment I notice that the amount of classic releases suffers. Already two releases per week are too slow for my taste as it takes very long when you're waiting for a certain classic. If they reduce the rate in favor of new games GOG's gonna loose its soul (and honestly, their ideology and M.O. is the main reason why I love GOG).

Also, what publisher is gonna release its new blockbuster on a platform that doesn't support achievements? :P

If it gets really bad I'll start posting my general discussion threads in the Kingdom: the Far Reaches sub forum. They'll never find me in there. No one will ever find me in there.

You seem to assume Activision will be bringing CoD here. CoD without DRM does not compute.

AWESOME!

I am here for DRM free games that come as simple installers you can easily backup. Getting classics that way is great... getting new games that way? ALSO GREAT.

Count me in.

Though unfortunately I won't be buying much of anything in 2012 due to volunteering overseas the whole year.
It is my hope that GOG will find a good balance between "old" and "more recent" games.

That's basically all I want.

spindown: This has the potential to become either really awesome or really awful. I hope they know what they're doing.
Hoping awesome, expecting awful. Looks like GOG is no longer happy with grassroots growth. Cant blame them but I think the worst is now coming. Assuming of course you are here for old games, I am sure the DRM free crowd will see some advantages to this. Its just the old titles I see dying off.
It still too early to predict the future of GOG. They not even implement anything yet.
