It's been a huge success apparently. 100k units sold for 500k so far.

Consider the average payment is around $6 USD. I bet the donation averages would be a lot higher if the "rewards" were tiered. A cancelled game (Jack Claw) for all the freeloaders paying only a dollar, and up from there.

I though JC was in developement
Stunned by the people that are complaining about lack of value.

Bit of a mixed bag. Officially JC was a game they were developing but canceled. It is still technically dead but they've made blog posts saying they might support it depending on what the community does in terms of modders or something.

Nnexxus: Same here : I initially bought Trine for 10€ (boxed) and loved it. The art is amazing. The coop mode is great too, provided you can use 2 keyboards and 2 mice. With a gamepad, only the warrior (and maybe the thief with some practice) is really playable. The mage must use a mouse.
Wait, what? There is a co-op mode? How come I didn't notice that?

I got the impression that the devs weren't actually going to support it, but they would act as the "editor in chief" of any open source additions to the game that community might produce, since they released the source code along with the preview build.

That's not how the Humble Indie Bundle works. They put it out there and people pay whatever they like and can allocate the money in various ways.

The point is that people can freeload if they like. Some freeload paying the min and others pay large sums of money.

I know how it works and I know what the point is. I had a point of my own and you passed right over it.

Not really the main reason why anybody has any dealings with the people over there is that they get to name their own price. People over pay because they want to encourage it as a model. It's certainly possible that there would be a change, but I'm not convinced.

It's more likely that the distribution would tighten up, but I don't see any particular reason why that would move the mean around. And it definitely would cut down on the number of sales.
So I bought it for Trine. It's good, but nothing special. It's definitely style over substance. If it wasn't so cool looking though, I'd probably skip it.
4 days and it's almost up to 590k, I wonder where it's going to end up.

To be quite honest, I thought Shadowgrounds was the best of the three.
Each game individually felt kind of bland for me. Well, at least it's for the greater good.

(Not complaining about price)

/Disregard that, they're all good.

It definitely tailed off after the first couple of days where it was around $450k -- I think eventually it will churn up to a million but at a slower pace.
