It’s a Steal!

[url=http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/thief_gold]THIEF™ GOLD is the definitive version of Thief: The Dark Project, the first game that introduced sound and light (or silence and shadows) as stealth gameplay mechanics, so there is no way you can sneak past this gem on GOG.com for just $9.99.

Garrett, the main protagonist in Thief trilogy, is one of the gaming’s most appealing hidden anti-heroes. Sure, he’s a thief (and a killer!), but he makes it up with sarcasm, intelligence, and rougish appeal. Thief’s surprisingly elaborate storyline throws Garret between a rock and a hard place where he needs to restore the political and magical balance of the city by using silence, stealth, and thievish skills as a weapon. The chaotic Pagans and technological Hammerites are preparing to tear the city apart in their battles with each other, and it seems that only a little judicious theft can keep these titani forces from clashing. No matter who's the employer and who's the victim, he plans to stay neutral and is always upholding his beliefs with a simple key principle: always get the loot.

In THIEF™ GOLD, you have a wide range of equipment at your disposal: a blackjack, a sword, lockpicks, holy water, explosive mines, flash bombs, and seven types of arrows to assist you on 12 treacherous missions in a steampunk-medieval metropolis called the City. The game’s FPS mechanics are a big change from then-traditional DOOMlike “shoot and run” to the unthinkable "it's quite amazing how much fun it can be to avoid action". The game received much critical acclaim (92! Metascore), with reviews ranging from “immersive gaming experience”, through “bloody good”, to the quite expected “my favorite game of all time”.

You don’t have to get your hands dirty to get THIEF™ GOLD from GOG.com’s secret stash for $9.99.

Sure. As soon as they, and anybody else, pay any mind to the wishlist, they'll get right on it. :P

That's an important release but the entry "Oh yeah baby, fuck me harder" is much more significant

At first I thought you're joking, but then I found it and yelled "Only 14 votes?"

Oh yeah Street Fucker II is a must-vote too.

If you want to continue the fun, I actually made a thread just for these kind of entries, it's called "The funniest and stupidest entries in the wishlist"

That's how bad the wishlist is

Search for it in the forum
Geez, GOG, you ain't screwin' around! Been a big couple months around here, with the great Christmas sale and then a slew of big titles. Keep it up!
This runs perfectly. I had been trying to get Thief running on my Win7 64bit machine for over a year and now I can. I now I sound like an infomercial, but thanks GOG!

this sounds silly but ive been able to get every gog game so far installed and running perfectly on LinuxMint using PlayOnLinux... all you need is a GPU who can work off the additional drivers correctly and wine ver 1.2 ((not 1.3))

Just bought it, worked fine except movies did not play in game, alhtough they played fine using Windows Media.
You can fix this using the ddfix patch, but still GOG should have caught this.
BUt otherwise the game runs great.

Loonie: It would appear that shit just got real.
I've always found shit to be quite real, especially when stepped in.

Lexor: lol, why capital letters?

Even trademark of this game is not "THIEF" - this game is named simply "Thief".

Look at the bottom of this page: http://www.thief4.com

so?

Firek: We should probably call it Th1ef, then.
Please don't. :) Thief : The Dark Project had a massive patch bundle that fixed a huge amount of draw issues, clipping problems, detection bugs, missing pointers, and added a few new levels as well. That patch is what became Thief Gold. For those of us who remember pre-patch, it was still beyond fun for gaming but at the time we all hailed the patch as the greatest thing since sliced bread.

For a good chunk of history and some of the oldest taffers on the web, try ttlg.com some time. I was there at the start, though no one remembers Keef anymore. :)
Damn it GOG, I managed to withstand the temptation to buy Deus Ex and Hitman due to already huge backlog, but Thief I just can not pass, even if I have it on CD. My poor credit card...
Thief GOLD!!!

I am already a gogger for LIFE, but now when I am wandering the hoary netherworld, gog will always be #1!
