After having watched some gameplay footage, I wouldn't take this game for free. The writing in this game is beyond embarrassing, the idea that Saga is an actual FBI agent is laughable, she talks like a teenager and questions absolutely nothing. This game's narrative is very, very obviously the product of adult children who value enforcing DEI over everything else.

After actually playing it I can say: Bring it on!

Is she supposed to be an actual agent though? I mean, isn't her partner Alex Casey, the fictional character from Alan's books, making her, presumably, Alan's fictional creation too?

Well she's walking around the game wearing an FBI uniform with the logo staring players in the face from the get go, and they even go out of their way to denigrate Alex and make sure everyone knows she's in charge of the new case. They also pull the lazy modern tell don't show trope, by explaining how she's a better detective than he ever was.

The game itself, is solid so far. Very much worth a play from a technical and artistic standpoint. To say Remedy is overly "woke" is kind of hilarious and sad at the same time.

No one is upset about her being black. People are just irritated with this pandering, race swapping. Honesty why is race swapping always a white character turning black? What about Hispanic or Asian people?

Some of my favorite games, the main character is black. So that's not even issue for me. Also, crooked cops have nothing to do with being woke.

I don't buy this for one second. She was never a real game character, she was never really in anything before. It's not like they recast Alan Wake as a black dude, or freaking Han Solo. She is for all intents and purposes a new character, so who cares what they made her look like over the course of development. You have to have some bug up your ass to find a problem here, 100%.

I'd suggest not caring about such things, or if you do care try and not sweat the small stuff and save your energy for debating affirmative action bills or something. Caring so much about this is ridiculous.

She's one of three characters I've run into in the first two hours of the game that have African heritage. I guess we're going to conveniently forget she's half Swedish, while we're at it.

I'm not a fan of replacing traditional characters with *insert racial profile here* for ESG reasons, either bro, but you are reaching on this one.
