Arcade-like action-jRPG platformer with Metroidvania elements.

Ys I & II Chronicles+, Ys: The Oath in Felghana, and Ys Origin: a series of action-focused jRPGs, is available now for Windows, DRM-free on GOG.com with a 25% launch discount!

Ys I & II Chronicles+ is an enhanced release of the two that started it all. These classics feature a unique buttonless "bump" combat system, designed to mitigate the pace-breaking repetition of a standard jRPG grind. Combat is carried out by simply bumping your enemies, where the speed and direction of your attacks determine their effectiveness for a satisfying way to resolve conflicts and level up.

Ys: The Oath in Felghana is a reimagining of Ys III: Wanderers from Ys. It brings the threequel into a 3D world with new combat mechanics, all focused on the spirit of non-stop action rather than item and skill management. Thanks to the self-contained story, you can feel safe starting your adventure right here.

Ys Origin is the most recent entry into the series, a prequel set 700 years before the events in Ys I & II Chronicles+. This is the title that perfects the many facets of the Ys formula, combining the best gameplay elements for what the developer's themselves call an "arcade-like RPG platformer with Metroidvania elements".

If you're looking for jRPG charm with action-RPG gameplay Ys I & II Chronicles+, Ys: The Oath in Felghana, and Ys Origin are here to please, DRM-free on GOG.com. The 25% launch discount will last for one week, until Thursday, February 26th, at 10:59 AM GMT.

TWITCH STREAM SPECIAL
MegaPiemanPHD will be streaming the game live on twitch.tv/gogcom!

These are not your standard fare jRPGs, why? See for yourself - this Thursday, February 19th, 9pm GMT / 4pm EST / 1pm PST
I have Ys: The Oath in Felghana on Steam. I have never played it. Is it worth downloading?
Was planning to purchase all of these when they got here...and I did just that :)

Can't wait to see the whole series here!

Also, keep the jRPG's coming! You have a long way to go before it's a big collection!

tfishell: Yay, they're finally here! ;-)

Unfortunately, assuming the games have had deeper discounts on Steam, I'm not sure that the 25% discount will be compelling enough for many people to take the plunge. Still, I certainly hope they sell well!
I have to agree, if these had at least a 50% opening discount, I would grab them. Still, having played the TurboGrafix CD version of Ys I & II and the Super Nintendo version of Ys III, I would say to others that don't mind the price to grab em. I almost didn't grab the Turbo CD version of I & II via Nintendo Virtual Console, but changed my mind and did not regret it in the least as I got to experience one of the JRPG greats for the first time.

catpower1980: It's not specified on the game card, so: do YS 1&2 suppport gamepads?
My Steam version does, but really who knows.

Did you miss the post of that reputable guy saying that it is awesome? :)

It's a mixture of plataforms, hack and slash and rpg, like many others said, the soundtrack is awesome, it gets you pumped for the fight. I would recommend a controller though, never played it with kb+m but i don't see that working well...
Good to see Ys series being released. Wishlisted for now.
Whats up with this weird trend of putting a plus sign at the end of titles? Plus what exactly? Plus a free copy of Freddi Fish 2?...in that case, SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY!

I believe I did lol. I have been told it has an excellent sound track. I might install it later.
Already played through The Oath in Felghana and Origin on Steam, but it's really nice to see them on GOG as well.
FINALLY!

I've waited sooooo long for these games to show up, and we get all 3 at once? Absolutely fantastic.

For those who are unfamiliar, Oath in Felghana, in particular, is probably one of the best action RPGs ever.

The other two are just plain rad.
The Ys games DRM-free on GOG? BOOYAH! :D Felghana instantly wishlisted, and I may come back to get the DRM-free versions of the others (I already own them) later.

Thank you, GOG!
I've heard a lot about these - thanks for getting them here GOG! I'll pick up one today for sure. Now if only the best of your catalog was available on Linux and Mac...

Cyraxpt: Ys I & II Chronicle is terrible, for you to attack the enemies you have to approach them and it will automatically attack them, i didn't play more than 20m (if much).
So what happens? You approach, combat ensues automatically, and then what? You hope your PC AI has enough sense to know when to retreat or make "smart" decisions based on survivability?

Or you just hope he/she/it emerges victorious and that no other enemies approach before you have had a chance to heal?

I guess what I am asking is: Does the player control more than just where the Ys character goes and who he/she speaks to?
It's nice to finally see these here. I'll be waiting for a better discount though before I buy the set. My budget can't take it.

To anyone concerned about Steam's discounts, they were 66% off last month with no recorded discount bellow 40% off. Only Ys Origin was released DRM-free previously at $6 in a Humble Bundle.
GOG continuing to kill it - knock it out of the park - get the job done!

I think I've just bought too much this month already. So many great titles.

That doesn't even begin to acknowledge the simple reality that I have no time to play the games I buy, anyway.
