CD Projekt RED, GOG's sister company and the development studio of the acclaimed The Witcher franchise, has just announced their new game - THE BARD: Saviors of Queens. The adventure is supposed to revolve around an undisclosed poet whose name is yet to be determined.

Following recent video game trends the title will offer a very short and linear story. Almost no gameplay whatsoever and twenty launch DLCs, including a special pink banjo (normally obtainable by finishing a game) and a unicorn mount, will have you stuck in front of your computer screen for minutes. Check out the announcement trailer below and visit http://www.saviors-of-queens.com for even less details.
Ahahahahaha 2hours of gameplay for drinking, fighting and womens. Sounds like a night out on the town

The frustrating thing is that I want this game.
Yeah, this is the kind of game that should actually exist.
This sounds interesting, but it also sounds like a wonderful April Fools joke. Wait .. let me change that ... and *evil* April Fools joke.

Nettle: Okay. When this comes out Ill get my copy on gog. Come on - game that can play itself? This is what I call new even groundbreaking idea. This is what innovation is all about.
Well, there is Progress Quest since 2002!
HAHA
You guys went all out for this one!
Very well played, sir's.

Mandolin style. lol
And love the ref to Starship Troopers.

One of my favorite ever AFD jokes.

Screw those monks, stick to this kind of stuff in the future.
:D
20 DLC right off the bat gave it away... CD Projekt RED are atypical when it comes down to charging for DLC or even releasing ridiculous amounts of after-release content.

Having a unicorn mount might be interesting if you can use the horn as an in-motion weapon. =D
I am surprised this game does not exist already. Can anyone think of titles like this that actually exist?

Dragon Age 2. It's pretty clear CDProjekt are having a pop at BioWare.

Yeah and Idle and Idle 2... Still. No sex and no battlesystems build around real mandolin fighting styles. I find this title to be superior on all fronts. But truth is that I just might gave it too much credit for innovation.

So very true. So very sad. Lets hope that in Bard they will be able to make some actual level design - if every tavern in Bard looked the same(with changing starting positions, of course) I would call it absolute DA2 rip-off.

Damn... I want that game... :-D
I'd buy it.
There are three games I want.

1) A RPG with elements like in this video, where you can indeed not only use something like a musical instrument as a weapon, but have some serious long deep gameplay where fighting is not all that the game is all about. Sort of like James Bond for the RPG realm (and I mean medieval etc setting)

2)The Othello part of Last Action Hero, I would love to be able to use for example an Uzi against swordmen.

3)A 4X game where each race has very UNIQUE weapons.

Watching this video it felt like number 1 was going to happen. Then I figured out too that even the video is part of the joke and there isn't going to be one. :(

Thexder: This "consolites" is what pisses me off about the modern state of gaming. I am a PC gamer, and I demand the complexity and originality we had in PC games a long time ago. How long do we have to wait for the new Elite?
There is always Evechron Mercenary, Starpoint Gemini, etc.

I wish this had been announced on any other day. If this were real, I'd play the [insert expletive here] out of it. That looked so awesome. I want to go around beating people with a mandolin and... investigating various brothels.
