Weclock: the night before was awesome, we had this huge party where we roasted the last party who came through, I didn't fight them though, it was my first night on the battlefield, with tomorrow being my initiation.
I had been looking forward to this all my life, or, un-life as it were. I had only been born a few weeks ago, as it turns out I was once an adventurer, returned to life by the Darkspawn.
it tooks me some time to regain my strength, it seems now that I must be stronger than I ever was, as my body doesn't appear as if I could physically be a threat to anyone, I am still rather capable.
Some kind of dark magic I suppose.
Today is the day I am to take on my first few adventurers, but the word is that they have been delayed, they should have been here hours ago, but now there's no telling when they'll come, or even if they will ever come. I may never become a full darkspawn without killing someone.. if that happens my body will degenerate and I will die, again..
I must kill, I must destroy. In order to stay strong, someone else must die.

You're a regular David Gaider. ;)

I probably got the mythos all wrong, then again, I don't think we know that much about the dark spawn? I really need to read those codexes.

Sounds very good. And I'm glad it's coming out so soon, I'm really hungry for more Dragon Age, but I'm not going to bother with the DLC as I completed the main game already. With a new story, new party members and a new land to play in this expansion sounds ideal for me.

Depends on the length of the expansion, and the cost. They're quoting $40 as the US price, which would be about £25, which is only £1.99 less than I paid for the full game.

Darkspawn are not like zombies, they are not dead who return to life. They come from BroodMothers and only females who become BroodMothers make a transition of sorts from human/dwarf/whatever to darkspawn, and death is not a part of the process. Aside from them, darkspawn are born darkspawn.
Or alt least that's how i think it works...

Navagon: Wait for the inevitable GoTY version. That's my advice. All this DLC bullshit is making my head spin. Hopefully they'll just cram it all into the GoTY version and that will be that.

Exactly what I did with Fallout 3, and exactly what I'm planning on doing with this game.

It does seem to be the only real option given the number of games designed to support no end of DLC that are due to be released. Then again, I plan to hold off buying games for a few months subsequent to their release anyway. Most games go down in price soon enough.

I'm assuming you bought the PC version. The PC version of this will be $30.

They have a two year plan for the DLC, so that seems unlikely.

I thought some of that before too, but
I'm not entirely sure, although the idea of darkspawn babies is intriguing.

I have no problems with that. If it's a good new RPG campaign I'm all over it. The full game was exceptionally good value for money in this day and age, and I don't expect quite the same from the expansion pack, but if it's 15-20 hours of quality RPG gaming I can't under any circumstance see how it wouldn't be worth that amount of money.
Besides, I'm buying a retail copy, and I'm sure Play.com or other good online retailers will sell it for much less than the RRP. I love that aspect of buying boxed games.

Sure is ;)
I didn't read all the codex yet, but i think the story arch with Oghren's lesbian wife kind of explains how darkspawn breed. Most creepy bit in the game too, that song about how women are turned into BroodMothers.

Fucking loved that part. Never seen that kind of stuff in an RPG before. When it was promoted as a "dark fantasy epic" I figured it was a bunch of crap. But it is and not in a stupid way...in a really sick and real way. Kudos.

Yeah, that part was very well done. Very creepy, in a way i'm not used to in RPG's, which was a nice surprise.
Like everybody keeps saying, it's far from a perfect game, but it sure has some interesting bits in it. Can't wait for the expansion and whatever DLC they come up with.

I really had no complaints aside from the last 10 hours or so. I found after 80-90 hours I didn't really want to play anymore. Not much of a complaint.

No, i guess not ;)
Why the last 10 hours ? Were you getting bored with it or you didn't liked where the story was going towards the end ?
