Faithful: Man, I almost bought Titan Quest from Impulse, but I cannot bring myself to use Impulse and be beholden to Stardock whenever I want to play or reinstall the game.
Come on gog get this game here for $5.99 and I will buy it.

well go nag thq to get it on gog lol i've looked at impulse it's got a more limted games and can be overpriced but there are a few gems
note has anyone actully bought sins of a solar empire entrenchment yet??????
I bought it. Haven't installed it yet though, as I'm waiting for it to finally get out of beta. Lesson learned though. I'm not shelling out for any more DLC until it's passed beta testing.

Dammit, I just spent $70 last night from kidrobot on a present for my gf and a mousepad for me, and today I dropped $12 on comics, I didn't want to spend any more money, but I kind of want to get these, I guess I'll just have to not go out to eat this weekend.

Be warned, it's Dark Crusade only - therefore only 2 races in multiplayer and full Dark Crusade campaign. Still worth 4$ though...

I rarely do multiplayer, I don't know why. The only exception to that being Team Fortress 2. But thanks, I was curious as to whether that was the game or one of the expansions.
i already have a hard copy whitch whitch already has a no cd crack preinstalled
just got titan quest i did't know they charge you in local currencies saves those pesky overseas transaction fee's

Relic's newer games like Dawn of War and Company of Heroes doesn't need a CD. Atleast that's what I remembr.
I prefer Impulse over Steam, just for the fact that it is not geographically biased. I am not able to view/buy some of Steam games that I wanted, especially when it's one sale. A huge downer for me.
All of my digitally distributed games are from Impulse and GOG.
I've found Impulse a little pricey (though Steam has caught up), and most of the stuff I want, I already have. I can't justify myself to myself having yet another client on this PC just for 1 or 2 games. Even if said client is not needed to run most of them.

Sadly, some Impulse products are region locked. At least the last time I looked at it back in late 2008.

Yes, I believe that's correct. But then, the same goes for Steam.

Even impulse offers regional restrictions, it's one of their selling points to potential partners. Including, regionally restricting who can see certain products. For Steam, if you want to see games in other regions (although you can't buy them), just add ?cc=us to the end of any store URL. And you'll force the store to the country with the matching code. Ie, US for America, UK for England, JP for Japan. You'll need to change the code back though, as the store will remember the last country code you forced.
Now, GamersGate on the otherhand, sell a few games region free, which are regionally restricted on Steam and they have the added bonus of finally dumping their client. So now you can get direct downloads from their store. Which has certainly made them a potential site to buy from as far as I am concerned. Oh, and GamersGate don't regionally restrict who can see products; but will inform you of which countries the product is sold in. Such as The Witcher being US only.

Of course, Australia (And I think South Africa and Japan also) misses out on near half the titles from big publishers because of this. And like a lot of Europe, we pay a good increase to keep retailers happy. (-grumble)
Gamers Gate are getting interesting for newer releases, not that I can afford them, but the competition is good. It's also great to hear they are dumping the client.

Actually that'd be an interesting study "Who gets screwed over the most on game prices". I reckon Australia would be in the top 5

If Yahtzee is to be believed, being a gamer in Australia is like being underage Autrian girl locked in her fathers basement.
Anyway, I dunno about Impulse. I'm waiting for Sins of a Solar Empire to drop to at least 50% off release price before I buy it. A strict policy I enacted after being sorely disappointed by the last game I bought at release for full price (BioShock).

Well he's not wrong, much higher prices (because we all know how expensive it is to move stock over water), lack of an 18+ rating often leading to bans, edits or the threat of bans or edits and often delayed release dates
