orcishgamer: I'm sure it'd would at least be a bit more great if it was actually playable, which I'm finding it to not be.
When I last left off I was in the Fade in the Mage's Tower. The load times seem a bit long, and occasionally it just exits out, but other than that I haven't had any problems. Does it get buggier later, or am I just lucky?

I have played DA:O twice and encountered no bugs whatsoever. Played through Warden's keep Twice with no issues at all - in fact it was one of my favorites. I am sorry to hear that Orcish is having such a hard time of it. Is the Ultimate Edition bugged in some way the Others may not be??

Yes, especially the DLC. And you can greatly alleviate the random crashes by making a shortcut to DAOriginsLauncher.exe (yes, the launcher, not the game executable) and adding ' -dx9' after the final " (add a space before the dash). As you might guess this launches the game in DX9 mode, DX10 seems to crash the mofo a lot.

And people wonder why I think console games are superior...:(

I'm playing UE, and I played through Warden's Keep just fine.

I'm playing on my dad's computer, he uses XP.

Yes, apparently some screen resolutions bug out the scripting in Warden's Keep, if you can freaking believe that. Also, you can get into an infinite cutscene loop, which I have, oh the fun. I'll have to revert to a way earlier save and see if I can make it work. If that doesn't work, I suppose I can enable the console and start typing commands to make it work.

No idea then. I noted the Feast Day gifts tend to crash the game in Camp, so I always save before I do any gifting. Actually any gifting in camp seems to do this after you enable feast day gifts.

orcishgamer: Sorry, I did write "Origins" a couple times when it's actually Origin, yes, I'm referring to the online service by EA, they merged the old Bioware accounts into Origin some time ago, there is no separate account anymore.

Pretty much all the stuff above with reference to Origin means the EA service, Origin, sorry for the confusion. You don't need a bunch of accounts (or at least less now). If you log in on the Bioware site you use your Origin credentials (single sign on style) and you get access to the additional Bioware services. Same with loggin in on the game launch screen, you now use your Origin account. There are some issues if you somehow managed to have separate emails between pre-existing Origin and Bioware accounts, you are supposed to make them the same (somehow), I'm not really sure what the ramifications or solutions are in that instance and I'd recommend contacting support if you need to solve that one (or checking their FAQs/Knowledge Base).
Oh, that's actually convenient. I don't have an account on Origin yet, but I probably won't escape it in the long run.

Thanks for the information.

Dragobr: By "origins" you don't mean *the* Origin, but a separate service, right?

So much for trying to minimize the amount of accounts I have to make. I guess I'll take this game out of my wishlist for now, then.

Landeril: Dragon Age is great,. I loved playing it, despite being a baldurs gate fan

I played on the 360. :P
Those who would want the extra challenge trying to get a game working on the PC are the same who would appreciate the more challenging tactical combat on the PC version as well maybe is what Bioware assumes! In other words, the problems with the PC version is a METACHALLENGE Bioware made on purpose to turn away those who wouldn't appreciate the combat!

(note I only played the xbox 360 version and I have only skimmed the last page or so of this topic recently.... in other words a joke post._

I've got a 100+ hours on DA:O and hardly any problems. No noteworthy crashers, eg.

I've got the Steam Ultimate edition, slightly modded and in runs very well oiled. Only on my third playthrough I got a bug were the DLCs didn't properly activate.

So, maybe it's not her, but you ;-P?

Brand new Windows 7 install with brand new hardware and none of the problems I've had are unique to me (they appear in many various posts all over the forums). I don't know how it could ever be the client machine's problem when scripting breaks or cutscenes go into an infinite loop. Random crashes, maybe, maybe not, but not those other things.

Play it all again with the 1.05 patch, maybe they reintroduced bugs, I have no clue and I don't really care how it happened, I just know it's happening. I'm clever enough to recognize PEBKAC and this isn't it.

That's your problem. Play it with patch 1.4. Unless it's the steam version...

I heard someone was playing without the skip the fade mod.

Had to do 1.05 to get the DLC recognized as authorized. Is there known issues with 1.05?

Is it that bad? I recall getting a crap ton of stat boosts from it. As a mage I didn't find it hard.

I haven't had much problem with it. Though, I do think I accidentally glitched one of the stat boosters or something, 'cause I think it gave me 3 dexterity boosts.
