This thread is the greatest idea ever. My biggest problem with Guild Wars is that you *can* solo the whole damned thing (or some people claim to, at least, ahem). I hate playing online games by myself. The main reason I have an Internet connection at all is playing them with other people. Between NCsoft selling PvP unlocks and adding better & configurable bot friends, it's become fairly difficult.
There are some areas of Prophecies off the main quest line I've found impossible to solo, and parts of Factions and Nightfall can be very brutal. In particular the mission called Closer to the Stars, required to ascend and change secondary classes, I undertook with several experienced players and we got our asses handed to us a couple of times. (No doubt my presence had something to do with this.)
To me Factions is the way to go. It's stunning to look at and some of the missions are just relentless. You think you're done and then you start to see a lot of blips coming at you on the radar. No sooner can you utter the appropriate curse words than two more sets of blips appear on opposite sides of the radar and you realize you're going to be sandwiched. It's one of my favorite MMO overworlds and I'm down for playing through any of it again. The only thing I won't do is the rush rush hurry MMO thing.
Well, you could ship it to one of us.
You could also try calling a smaller shop and asking them to open it for you. I doubt Newegg can do this, but if you don't mind paying full price I bet J&R will if you call the shop and not the website.

Yeah that's a possibility I guess. The reason I'm interested in being able to solo is primarily down to my (not every good) net connection. I'm just too far away from the nearest exchange so by the time data gets to me, I've lost over half the speed my line is *supposed* to give me. And that won't improve until we finally get fiber optics (which isn't likely to happen for another 3 or 4 years by the looks of things).
That and the last MMO I played wound with a player base so small it was almost impossible to find anyone to team with. So it's nice to know that a large portion of the game will be possible without having to try and find people to team with.

The new "Races" trailer for Guild Wars 2 (guildwars2.com) is amazing.
The environments in that game are mind-blowing.

I added those On this page to my in game friends list. (BTW My guild is E.G.A.D. = Eternal Guardians Against Doom. We named it such so we could go in to towns and start shouting "EGAD!" randomly :))

Once you get past the streaming game updates, it's pretty close to playable on dialup.

I am so easy to convince when it comes to games, it's a little bit frightening. Watched the latest GW2 trailer and thought to myself "I should probably re-download Guild Wars" which I did yesterday. XD Not sure what I'll be doing yet (may be a couple of quests for my Dervish alt).

Nope. Just getting back in to the game. Although we do have the Imperial Isle guild hall.

My guild and another guild of GoG'ers have made an alliance. If you guys want to join, you're welcome to it.
Though you did mention that you didn't have Guild Wars Factions yet, so I'm not entirely sure if it is even an option without it. In any case if you ever do get Factions keep this in mind. Look me up in-game (Damu Atum) or bring it up in this thread.

Yah I just ordered factions, so I should be getting in with in the week :) I'll let you know when I get it. Tomorrow and tuesday are the best days for me to play, I am off work.

Yes, yes there is. Wasteland of One is the name. Used to be my little experiment for when I had more money than I knew what to do with, is now a sort of GoG'ish guild (seeing as so far only GoG'ers populate it). We're also in alliance with another GoG member run guild.

Cool. I'd join the guild but my guild has been on there for al ong time...heh. I've owned the game for at least four years, yet never have really finished it. Weird I know... I have four of the little birthday pets for most of my characters. I guess you can blame WoW and Final Fantasy XI for me not playing guild wars as much :)
