Hey guys! Just wanted to quickly pop in and say that I'm back in the game.
Was at first a bit weirded out by the fact that I'm not the guild leader anymore but I suppose its only for the best, considering the infrequency of my active time, I'm sure Fitz will do just fine instead. :)
I'm not sure how active I'll be nowa days as it doesn't seem like there is much more left for me to do in the game (I might look into doing some PvP or random arenas though, we'll see) but if any of you see me online don't hesitate to drop me a message, I'm sure we can find us some fun. :)

that surprised the hell outta me too! but i would like our guild to be more active. i've been playing a lot (until the perils of summer sale) and wishing that some of the guildies were on so we could do some stuff.
plus i want to try an imbagon build but the only way to get the necessary skill is to level up your guild.
So Almak is back? That's nice. Even though I'm not in the guild, I hope that I'll meet more GOG guys in game (and play with them).
I am now trying elementalist, atm Searing Flames spammer. Great fun.
From what I've heard, the main point of Guild Wars is to get to max level very quickly, and then do PVP all day. Is that actually the case?
Way back when Guild Wars was first released, they had a celebratory free-for-everyone weekend in which I participated. I didn't really care for the game at the time, but that was ages ago. I wouldn't mind giving it a second try, but I'm not interested in PVP, and a game focused on it would be boring for me.
Well, kinda. You can get max.level quite fast (it is fastest in the Factions campaign).
What will you do then, is up to you. You can still earn reputation with various factions, farm precious materials in hi-end content (Urgoz's Warren, Domain of Anguish, Underworld, etc.), earn titles or try to beat other people's high scores in challenge misions.
Yes, the game has a lot of PvP content, but there is a lot to do in PvE too.

i max-levelled before i left the first continent, but i've played the solo campaign for like thirty hours since then and never even been to the pvp areas. or whatever. i wouldn't even know where to go.

I wouldn't call Guild Wars concentrated on PvP. The whole point of the GW levelling system is to give all players the same chances. It is very easy to get a viable build with equipment with almost perfect stats. This effectively eliminates all grinding from the game... also it means, that you won't see players who are freaking strong just because they had 1000 hours to sink into the game.
The end-game PvE is about very challenging coop play against monsters (special areas and things like that). And also about getting exclusive items, which while they are not stronger, they have a unique appearance.
The most beautiful thing is, that even though I am not interested in collecting millions of gold to buy an exclusive armor, the game will not punish me by making my character weak :)

i just missed you by less than 20 minutes. do you have a steam name so we can arrange something more easily?
Well, I finally have all the chapters + the expansion. Not playing much at the moment, but my main character is Bianna Eisodos, on the Nightfall campaign.
Am I the only one who has the compulsive habit of trying to think of a name for every character that keeps with the theme of the world/chapter?
For the Nightfall campaign I literally spent hours googling and reading on wikipedia for combinations on names that would fit in the Mediterranean/African setting, browsing through a lot of common names and historical people in Greece, Egypt and some northern african countries.

I do that too. It's really a pain when you can't find anything that sounds good.
Hell, I'm already trying to come up with a name for a Sylvari Warrior in GW2. Can't find any good last name for her.

You already have me on your friends list. I'm Almak. :)
I'm usually free some time from 17:00 (GMT +1:00). So drop me a message on steam and we'll figure something out.

Yup, me three. Or at least I do for my PvE characters. My latest PvP dude bares a proud name of Time Muffin...

The guild I was in was closed due to inactivity. I don't play much, in fact only just reinstalled, but give me a shout out :)

I haven't played Guild Wars in ages, have yet to complete any of the singleplayer campaigns or learn the ins and outs of PvP.
Now, seeing this topic makes me feel like reinstalling it, and start playing again. I'll need someone to talk to though. No talking makes the game boring. X3 Right now I don't know what I'll be named in game, but you could add me on Steam under the account name 'asaguda' or the community name 'Dicey | NDH'. I'll start looking for my discs the moment someone pokes me about it. :D
finally got round to finishing factions, now started Nightfall at last lol

Well, I must put in here that Nightfall has much better scenery than the Kaineng City areas of Factions, and it has a much less confusing layout too, and it's longer, and it has heroes, so I guess what I'm saying is, Nightfall is a better campaign in general if the focus is on PvE.
