Time for the next surprise in the GOG.com's Holiday Celebrations. We're still working on adding Windows 7 compatibility to some of the games which have some issues with the newest operating system from big M. We're happy to let you know that [url=http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/arcanum_of_steamworks_and_magick_obscura]Arcanum: Of Steamworks and Magick Obscura and Myst: Masterpiece Edition are now fully compatible with both 32 and 64-bit Windows 7. To get the latest, Windows 7 compatible versions of the games, you have to re-download and install them again.

The is our third surprise in GOG.com's Holiday Celebrations. Don't know what we're talking about? For the next two weeks, we're going to reveal a little something for you once a day, until December 14 when we reveal the BIG surprise!

Want more? Check back tomorrow for another GOG holiday surprise!

Cook: It means we've uploaded new builds of those games and you need to re-download the games and install them again to have the latest, Windows 7 compatible version.
Thanks for the quick answer.

foxtrix: Same here. I just downloaded the Arcanum installer and it is bit-exact the same one I downloaded a few months ago.

DukeNukemForever: I posted this already a few months ago in the Win7 thread, but maybe here it gets more official attention: It would be really nice to have a list with all actual file versions, so everyone can check if he needs to download the games again. This would save many bandwith and time for us and GOG.
Or you get a message in your "My Games" tab saying: This game has been updated since your last download. Perhaps in combination with another tab: "Show all games that have been updated since my last download."

Aliasalpha: Thats what needs fixing
It sounds like it would be all too easy for them to fix. So let's hope they do so soon.

That would be perfect, but I guess to implement this it needs too much effort. At the moment a small list would be easier and faster to generate, especially if they have a database with all game updates and hopefully can copy/paste all informations.

See that's the great thing about opinions. To me, your opinion means squat and I think these so called "pathetic" surprises are great.

What is "pathetic" to me is posts like yours that add nothing to anything and just serve to give headaches to the world at large.

That is my opinion though, others may vary.

you've been rather cranky lately. Are you alright?

About the surprises, no, they're not extremely impressive on their own, and announcements like these get made during `normal' periods as well. But now we get something like this every day, which is nice and fun. What did you expect? A free game a day?

it's not OMGGIFTZOVERLOAD. It's `oh. That's nice! :)' and if you adjust your expectations accordingly, the coming 11 days will be fun.
Great news for me as i have all 3 games now to download while boss is away :)
Hmm, I just checked the CRC of the Arcanum I downloaded two weeks ago with the one I just downloaded and they are the same.
What was the problem with arcanum ? I never had any serious issues. Are the mods still compatible ?

Nope . This week is killing me . :(
I just don't like the hype ( especially from GOG staff ) of these kind of announcements . Don't expect from me to became the next Roman5 . OK ?

It means they confirmed Windows 7 compatibilty some time ago & updated files but they announce it now.

Or, it means that files are not replaced yet, and they are doing it now.

A very important difference.

Don't worry, I won't ask that of anyone :D (sorry Roman5 :P).
Anyway, hang in there.

I'd go with the first one, considering how many people are reporting that the versions they got earlier already worked fine on Windows 7. The announcement doesn't really state that the files have been replaced today, it's only the official announcement that they are now officially supported on Windows 7. Most likely they updated the files a while ago and waited for some more testing and experiences to come in (and for the holiday season so the announcement can fill one of the 14 slots :)).
